I took this class as an honors course, and Dr. Shoptaugh did not make it feel like one. She takes a difficult class and makes it very accessible and understandable for the students. Quite a bit of homework and readings, and she gives points for attendance. Do the homework, readings, and go to class and you will have no issue.

Has high expectations for her students and wants them to succeed. Takes the important information from the book and condenses it for the lecture. That being said, reading the book is a must and you will have to really study for the tests to make it out with an A.

Dr. Shoptaugh is a nice person and very funny, so lectures are interesting. There is always a ton more information on the tests than in lecture, and some of it is obscure things from the book (the Mediterranean diet is good to treat depression). I'm not usually a person who has to study but I did for this class. One group project but it's not bad.

(honors) Quizzes once a week online, lecture everyday, and the tests cover everything discussed in class along with corresponding chapters in the book you are suppose to read on your own. Not impossible to pass, but you have to put in a lot of hours studying to get a good grade.

Dr. Shoptaugh was an awesome teacher to have for my 1st honors class at MSU! Her tests are entirely application questions so you need to read the book thoroughly and attend the study sessions to understand the material. She wants you to succeed though and will help you if you ask. She also brought us homemade cookies/desserts before every exam!

She loves what she does and wants you to succeed. Very knowledgeable about PSY. This is not an easy class. You have to put in the work to get a good grade, but a 'A' is definitely doable. If you participate, you will learn a lot from this class.

Dr. Shoptaugh is a great professor. This is the hardest class I have taken at Missouri State in my 5 semesters here. This is an in depth survey course. Only 30% of the class received an A. This is an incredibly hard class.

I enjoyed having Dr. Shoptaugh for honors psychology immensely. She makes things very easy to understand. If you don't read your book, you will not do well in this class. She does not cover everything in lecture. She does a lot of fun activities to help you understand difficult concepts. This is a difficult class that requires work.

Not worth the time spent and frustration that builds up throughout the semester. She is knowledgeable and you grow to like her, but it is disorganized and requires more time than a 121 should. Only cover about 1/4 the material for the tests in class and MyPsychLab is annoying and inconvenient. Save endless headaches and take another honors class.

I didn't like this class or the format. It was a blended course. Her tests ask about obscure topics from the text. The whole blackboard/MyPsychLab part of the course is very disorganized, and the times assignments are very inconvenient.

I really liked her. Unlike other psych teachers, she gave study guides before major tests and as long as you followed those you are good. YOU MUST READ in this class though or you will not do well. Its a hard class.

Dr. Shoptaugh is a hard-working teacher, who always takes the time to work with students. She'll look over papers, if you take the time to make an appointment with her. Lectures are peppered with interesting personal experience. I highly recommend her. Not exactly an easy A, but you always know where you stand.

She is a great professor and class is always entertaining. Do the study guide and know the answers because half of the test questions come directly from the study guide! Start studying early because even though the material is an easy read, there is a lot of information and cramming the night before will not help you.

Beware..she takes attendance! She also calls you out in class if you are doing something else. I think she is really nice and also has some interesting stories that help remember material better. Overall, fairly good teacher. Make sure you go to class though or you will be lost because she doesn't send out or post notes anywhere!

She is a great professor. Her tests aren't hard if you study the way she tells you to. She is 100% willing to help you at any step of the road in any way she can. You need to go to class with the powerpoint notes to help with the test. The extra study sessions help, too. She is a great teacher and you actually learn in her class. What a novel idea.
