i didnt buy the book. just go to class and study the notes. the picture book that came with the book woudl ahve been useful because u just study the pictures for exams, but i just got the images off google and pasted them in my notes. its art history... she lectures all hour because thats what the class is. he is a bit weird, but oh well.

She is kind of out there, but is very interested in her subject, you really should study throughout the year for the 3 exams, because its over such a broad range of information. Also, make sure you do those worksheets off blackboard

She's really not so bad, just a little nutty...good for a laugh. Yes, she does talk a lot, but if you are interested in art you'll like this class. Exams are short answer and essay. Reading the text is required. She gives extra credit for knowing an example of a piece, title and artist.

If you're a fan of Gergel (or energetic and/or knoledgable profs. in general) you'll hate this prof Her public speaking skills are extremely..um..uh..um..lacking, and her knowledge about art is scattered and incohesive. Her text catagorizes art by year rather than medium, style or artist, and is extremely hard to do research with or even follow.

I am not an honor's student, but was bumped into this class. I enjoyed it the whole time. It was an easy A. The lectures were awesome to listen to and attention guaranteed A's on tests. Reading the text was necessary, but not taxing. At the end I was recommended as a tutor to academic services, so I thought it was a cool deal.

Talk about snooze fest. She talks and talks and talks the entire time...and that's it. For the tests you have to memorize not only the art pieces, but also the artist, the medium, the style or time period, and where it is located, for about 40 different pieces. Class isn't hard if you read the book.

This is the worst Professor I've ever had. She has no idea what she is talking about - she can't even make it through a simple sentence without pausing. Don't even try asking questions. She'll put you to sleep even if you're loaded with caffeine. Save yourself! Never take a class with this psycho!

Wow, this class was tough. One of the most boring teachers ever. Tests were crazy hard, if you plan on taking this class, prepare to study like whoa. She grades hard, tests hard, everything about her is hard. If you can take an alternate class than this one, take it.

Though her soft voice and the slides sometimes put me to sleep, I think that Prof. Loeb is a good teacher. I missed a mandatory field trip so she allowed me to do an alternate assignment and turn it in way late. If you show up to class everyday and ask her questions you should be fine in this class.

Tests arent to hard, lots of memorization. Class isn't easy, but its not super hard. Material is interesting, but shes so BORING! Mandatory attendance just 2 sit through another boring lecture. Even at 2 she'll put you to sleep. Materal is lil confusing but she'll reply to emails which don't help.

This could be a very interesting class but the whole time is spent lecturing on an art slideshow. She definately knows her stuff but conveys it in a boring way; it is hard to not zone out. The exams require memorization of facts on many (15-25) art peices, as well as how to discuss them.

this class could be interesting but, her voice is so quiet and soft that it makes you want to sleep. i have trouble staying awake everyday in that class. she can not carry a thought she will be in the middle of a sencence and forget what she is saying. do not take this class with her.

This is a really boring class so if you need some more sleep then here you go. She takes 5 minutes to say a sentence and to answer a question she goes on an on and then says well..nevermind. The tests and papers aren't that bad if you study..if you study hard you will probably get a B or B-.

do not take this class. boring and attendance is mandatory.tests are hard, and essays are graded fairly stiff. im in the honors part and everyone is looking at a B or C, including many centralis kids. had a mandatory field trip to an art museum on a friday to ann arbor! was the worse than it sounds.

I'm not sure what all these comments are about, Carolyn was an excellent teacher. She is thoughtful, and enthusiastic in her own way. Extremely fair grader. When I deserved a B, I got a B. When I deserved an A, I got an A.
