Dr. Keairns is great! Tests are difficult if you don't spend a lot of time studying. The textbook is completely useless but the mineral guide is a necessity. Classes went by quickly because he's always cracking jokes. He came in to class the first day in a cowboy hat and all us girls instantly fell in love with him. I'd take another of his clases.

Best teacher on campus, take him just for fun. I learned more in his class than I have learned in any of my other classes. He includes just about every part of Geology that could ever be included in an intro class. He rules. Don't miss out. This is sentence 6.

Class time goes by quickly due to his enthusiasm and vast knowledge. I must say though, his tests are extremely intense. You better know your stuff. No miltiple choice here. Basically all essay. The labs are cool, but once again know your stuff. Great class for a minor in Geol.

Great teacher and great guy overall, his class mineralology was kinda difficult and like no one gets an A in that class and I made a D. I loved the lab but the lecture was difficult. Very helpful teacher and will talk to you whenever you need him.

I took Carter for PhysGeol, Mineralogy, and SedStrat and have to say that he kicks so much a$$ that colons had to be imported from other countries to make up for it. Absolutely outstanding - enthusiastic, thorough, and knows what he's talking about. Makes one wish that SWT offered a Geology major.

Carter has good intentions but this class was a train wreck from the start, we didn't stick to the syllabus AT ALL...he would NEVER answer questions clearly in class and couldn't keep to a schedule. Lab and lecture didn't correspons at all. Disappointing

Great professor, knows the material amazingly well and teaches it in a way you will understand. The secret to passing?..as long as you go to class you will pass, easy little attendance quizzes are worth 40%! if you miss, you will fail.
