She's an incredibly sweet professor who cares a lot about the subject. The classes are extremely boring, and except for one paper have nothing to do with the assignments. The readings are pretty boring if you are not into anthropology. There are a few papers over the semester which have interesting topics. Approachable and understanding.

Easy WID as long as it doens't bother you that you don't learn anything. All assignments could really be done w/o class material. Attendance counts and its a painful hour. Discussion Qs on blackboard twice a week as well as reading question due before each class. Obnoxious but doable. Not too much fun for us non-anth majors.

Not for the faint of heart but totally worth the effort for the devoted. She's really nice and goes out of her way to help. Obviously knows and loves her subject. Seems like she doesn't know what to do with uninterested students. Hers was the best Anth class I took and the second best of all classes. If you're serious, TAKE HER CLASSES.

Very sweet but boring lady, and she just cannot get a syllabus together and then stick with it. That was really my biggest problem with the class. However, the readings were very reasonable, she's not a hard grader, and this was a great WID to take.

She helped me find my passion in life, Anthropology. Plus, she will go the extra mile to help you out. She knows everything about Anthropology from theory to the Andes. Hey, she can even speak Quechua. If you are out going then you can definitely help her out. She loves to hear opinions especially in her theory class.

How boring can she be. People fall asleep and dont even know they are sleeping. Also the reading load is crazy a chpt. a night how RUDE. Although a very nice and qenuine person

She was the sweetest professor I ever had, baked cookies and paid for a pizza party. She used a lot of effective teaching methods such as journals and student discussion leaders, so we learned the material well, but she herself was not organized and lost papers, and was not the greatest lecturer. Definite plus, no midterm or final!

Overall I am glad I took this class. Prof Allen was not the most interesting of lecturers, but she knew her stuff. One plus is that she is a very easy grader. We had to write journals on the reading(they weren't too boring), which wasn't half bad because it really tattooed the stuff on your brain.

class is very reading intensive...and quite boring. is co-taught with lubkemann....both are terrible lecturers. He is more entertaining, but says nothing important, she is scattered and hard to follow...try with another set of prof's if possible!
