Really friendly(which some people don't like) and fun. Enjoys her subject, and does well with keeping students engaged during class. Always let us out early (in the 1.5 hr classes)

Dr. Baker was so much fun in Discrete Structures - one of the hardest math courses I have taken at MTA. Having a TA in class was very helpful as well. She was a fair grader too.

It is evident that Dr. Baker loves to teach, and she is a good prof. I enjoyed learning under her. And when you go for help during office hours, she is very helpful. I do not agree with the bad ratings below.

Horrible math prof. She spends the entire class doing proofs and examples without teaching the basics. She hands out candy as 'rewards' to the class when they answer a question. We are university students, not 1st graders. She also bothers the class with needless anecdotes of her life (who cares if your cat woke you at 5am?)

terrible. she would spend the whole class doing pointless proofs that we would not need to know and then when she actually did examples she would get them wrong and spend half of the class trying to figure out where she went wrong. not worth taking her class

She does not show helpful examples. Only shows variables in examples and never subs in actual numbers. Very annoying and frustrating way of teaching.

Not a good teacher. I realized too late that the textbook explained things clearer and faster than she did. You would be best served staying at home and reading your book for 50 minutes rather than attending class.

I don't understand why everyone seems to dislike her. She is a great prof and teaches very enthusiastically. And, if you need help with anything she goes well beyond what is required of her to help you. She is an even better department head than a prof! Cal1 is horrible no matter who teaches it. don't blame her for u being too lazy to read the book

I was unfortunately a student in the first intro level course she ever taught. Terrible. We had a 50% failure rate because the final exam was absolutely brutal and was worth 70% of our overall mark. Don't take courses from her unless you're majoring/minoring in math and really understand it!

She needs to realize that not verybody understands what she is saying. I mean we all don't know these random terms you use. And by the way, there's no point in using abbreviations in your class if u have to spend 5 minutes explaining them. And the labs...o the labs...! Why must u make them hell? I think that's part of the reason i hate the class...

This woman said some hurtful things to a lot of students that she should not have! Saying that if they got out of bed and came to class they would pass. My friend went to every class and every help session and got 7% on exams I went to no classes and no help sessions and got an A- She was a nasty woman!

I'm confused; why is it that the exact same topics that I did well in grade 12, I do poorly in her class. And I mean, the exact same. She's intimidating and I've started doing well in that class by not going and reading the textbook.

Needs to stop using overheads. Overheads make the class too fast, with no time to learn the early concepts.
