One word HARD. Class participation is great, but the grading method is hard. If you are an english major, you will be fine. I suggest an alternative route to passing this class, take someone else.Although he is hard, he is a good instructor. He know his stuff, but is hard.

Dr. Holt, ty for the teachings. He has helped build a strong foundation in the art of writing. teaches bootcamp style, and end the end you feel confident in your writing skills. Would be a pleasure to be taught more by the Master of Writing. He really does have concern for the students learning. I hold you in high respect. Thank you.

This class was easy to me because he graded on grammar and spelling, not content of the papers we had to write. We had discussions about the stuff we read before we had to write about it. Take notes while he discusses it so that you can write 2 pages on it later. This class may be hard for someone who struggles with spelling and grammar.

I thought he was going to be an extremely fair prof. I went through the course assuming that I was learning. Neither of the above proved true in the end, it would seem. He is hard, and it is obvious why it was the only class I could get into at the last minute.

Good teacher, sometimes tries to make you feel like an idiot although some deserve it, unique but cool grading scale (grades you once for one paper at the end of the course instead of adding up points for each assignment), doesn't seem to be very open religion but prefers pessimistic viewpoints :(.

i love his guy. he's such a character. great at leading the class in analysis. makes it fun. reminds me of sean connery. one of the few classes that i would say are easy to an a in but are enlightening at the same time.

DR.Holt is excellent. Best of all lit professors I had.You will learn and feel good about it. Fair, to the point, and group work is great. If you want an easy class go elsewhere. One of my favorite professors here. We did a lot of group activities analyzing the literature. Only the last paper is counted as a grade. It really helps your writting skills.
