Comment:

Very nice and great teacher! Very entertaining and very vivid with his lectures. The tests are very easy and general, you have to answer 3 short essay questions one on the lectures and one on the 2 other texts that we use, so you do need to read or find a summary of it online, u don't need the textbook if u take notes every day!

I love him! He dresses up almost every class,&its SO entertaining. Lectures were kinda hard to follow. You have a midterm& final, and one 8-10 pg paper. Midterm and final are semi-easy except 2/3 of both are on books he assigns to read but we never go over them, so you DO have to read or wikipedia it. Paper is easy, u can do it on ANY Mexico topic.

Comment:

First half of the class, the lectures were semi-interesting. After the midterm, he did not cover the Mexican revolution or the current Chiapas revolution well. Most students "wikipedia-ed" to pass. You do most of your research by yourself. The class felt like an online class. Best part of the class was the Mexican books we read by Paz and Fuente

He is the nicest teacher you'll ever have. His format for 301 is different, instead of 1 big paper, he has you write about 7 smaller papers, it is most likely the easiest 301 class you'll find. There isn't much to this class, show up, he initiates class discussions, no tests or anything. He will give lots of days off throughout the semester too

Comment:

Intelligent, smart, funny, and has vast knowledge of history. He dresses up like historical figures, extremely cool. Go to class, take good notes, study them b4 a test, and he'll pass you. He grades on a massive curve, but make sure you have structure on your essays. (which he gives to you in the lectures anyway)

THE BEST PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD! I did very bad on the midterm and I still passed the class with a B. However, I worked pretty hard. He is willing to help and very approachable. If he sees your effort he will reward you.

A really nice and caring professor. He is not intimidating at all. If you take the notes and read the assigned books, excluding the textbook (which I never read), and study the notes real well before the final, you are guaranteed an A. Really great professor. He reminds me a bit of Clint Eastwood. He also dresses up in costumes occasionally. Fun!

Dr. Macune truly cared about the progress of his students. As chair of the department, he would always make himself available more than required. Dr. Macune's teaching style was unique, interesting, and fun. He deserves our highest respect because rarely does a man come along and inspire so many to meet challenges they never thought possible.

Dr. Macune is an excellent professor. One of the few teachers I have ever had in which I truly looked forward to his lectures. Make sure you do all the reading before tests though as this is the only way to get above a C on his exams. A fair grader also.
