One of a kind. He is the most caring professor EVER and wants his students to do well. He is willing to go the extra 100 miles for you and gives you a ton of extra credit. His lectures are seriously disorganized and you probably wont get much from them, but follow directions on assignments as he says and you will get an easy 100. Easy grader.

I really love Maddox. He cares about his students' success and his grading is pretty lenient. Every class is only lecture, but he gives information for the exam not in the book. Like 5 papers, 2 quizzes, a midterm and final are the only grades. He gave an extra credit to average with the midterm. Be prepared to memorize a ton of information.

By FAR one of the most caring professors I've ever had but this class is entirely memorization. If you're willing to put in the effort to study the study guides and if you utilize rubrics given to you you will be fine, but both final and midterm weren't multiple choice and you're memorizing 75+ images and short answer questions. Didn't use textbook

There are surprise writing assignments and then the midterm and final. Start studying for these before the class even starts. He asks you for the artist, title, year, and location of 5 artworks for the midterm and 10 for the final as well as definitions. For the identifications, he doesn't tell you what he is going to ask, so study everything!

Maddox genuinely cares about each one of his students and is a pretty cool guy. His lectures can be a bit disorganized & hard to follow, but the only time I really ever had to do work for this class was the papers, the midterm & the final. Grades papers very easy & gives lots of partial credit on exams, but you definitely have to study a lot.

Super hard class but Maddox is willing to help. I went to his office hours a lot and he gave me extra credit opportunities. He is one of the nicest teachers ever and makes a difficult class not so bad. Cramming the night before is the best way to go.

Maddox is absolutely amazing. His class is very hard and requires a lot of work but seriously his lectures are amazing and if you try, he will prepare you for everything. Every quiz and test he tells you what will be on it and what to study and is always very helpful if you're struggling. His lectures are really goofy and hes very entertaining

Professor Maddox is super quirky. He loves what he does and he's super unique and funny. The tests are from a slideshow of art he gives you and he'll select like 10-20 depending on the test and you have to know the title, artist, style, and date. Then there's a vocab section. It's really straightforward but a lot to learn.

One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. 1) half the time I didn't understand what he was teaching because he moves very quickly and makes weird noises in between descriptions. 2) the grading criteria is not clear so you are left guessing on what he wants for the papers. 3) you have to memorize over 40 paintings... and only 4 are on the exam.

DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOKS. I got an A in this class without reading either of them. Half of the exams Q's are on quizlet. You have to study for the tests, but if you study hard the night before you'll do fine. The only nights I worked on stuff for this class were the nights right before tests/papers were due, so it's kind of like an online class.

Maddox is an amazing guy, funny and cares about his students. however, he makes the class so much harder than it needs to be. most of the semester it seems pretty easy, but the midterm and final are absolutely impossible. for the midterm he gave us 47 different art works to memorize and there were only 5 on the exam.

You will have to write many papers on very boring artworks and they have to be well written. For quizzes and tests you have to memorize all the information about the art works- artist, location, title, year and theres no word bank or any matching its just putting up a picture and you give the info. Extremely hard and boring class

You better hope you have friends in class or you make some because 80% of these lectures are UNBEARABLE. I have a 90 in this class currently and i've opened the textbook maybe twice. i should've taken a different gen ed in this cluster because this class is just unnecessary work. maddox is a cool guy- all over the place though.

Super nice guy who really cares about his students and their success. His lectures are really boring at times and really hard to follow because he tends to get off topic VERY often but there's about 5 essays and he grades them super easily. Rare quizzes and not hard. I studied for the midterm for maybe an hour and I got a solid 86. not mad.

Mr. Maddox is such a sweet man who really cares about his students. While his lectures are hard to follow, I would heavily suggest getting the textbook as it will help keep you on track. He has multiple essays he assigns that are super easy, as well as alternatives to some essays. The quizzes and tests you definitely have to study for.

one of the nicest people you will ever meet. so passionate about life and seeing students succeed and grow. honestly, get the book at your discretion. def helpful, but not vital. makes you work for your grade but show up and pay attention and you will do well. lectures are long and boring, but he will sing and dance to keep it fun

Maddox was an interesting character to say the least. He is very passionate about art and likes to talk about it. His exams are very difficult, but the essay grades will redeem your average. This is not a class to take if you are looking for an easy A.

Ok, Mr Maddox is a really cool guy. But when it comes to teaching, he just was not for me. His Midterm and Final extremely difficult and you end up having to memorize 150+ works of art... for a very small test. Although he is very easy on the essays, it is just to make up for the insanely difficult tests. His lectures are also impossible to follow
