The class I had last semester was difficult for me because I wasn't sure what I was supposed to study. I quit ready my textbook mid-semester because I didn't want to waste my time. In class, she is fun. She encourages discussions and doesn't really lecture. She wants to know that you know what you are doing. We'll see what this semester holds. ;)

Two quasi homework assignments, no tests except for the final, extremely difficult to follow because she is easily sidetracked and will go off on a completely different subject than what was being discussed. Believe me, I would love the idea of no homework and no tests, but I need to know that I'm learning properly.

As a SPED major you will have her. She is not technically savvy therefore she will not respond to e-mails. You can try to call, but even her voice mail box is full. The rubric and assignment expectations are very unclear and difficult to decipher. If you have a different professor as an option at all I would highly recommend picking someone else.

This professor does teach in a way that a student must adapt.She is wonderful at her job, and if you just break things down at the beginning of the semester she will help you get where you need to be.If you show interest in what you are learning about she will help you as well. Great classes and very helpful. I appreciate that she sincerely cares.

Dr. Myles-Nixon is a great professor. She is easy to talk to and cares about her students. You HAVE to read the book and attend class. Overall I really enjoyed her class. She is firm but fun. I would recommend her but you can't go into the class thinking it's blow-off bc it definitely is not.

This is for all the people on here that are rating Dr. Myles Nixon badly. This is college it is not supposed to be easy. you are not supposed to be spoon fed the material. YOu have to actually read the book and use your brain to pass. If you can do that and are worried about how the tests/workd is then you need to find another carrer field.

After reading the reviews on here I felt compelled to rate this Prof. I have taken all of the classes she teaches and she has done a great job. She expects you to learn it without being spoon fed, I have used all of the information she teaches and the acronym list is very helpful when you start teaching. Don't be lazy and you will do well.

Beyond the worst teacher at UCO! She doesn't teach you a thing, she has no idea when your assignments are due, she changes what your assignment is after you have done it! She is so vague and needs to just retire! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU CANHELP IT, but you can't help it because she offers many of the classes required! Worst teacher ever!!!

I took Dr. Myles-Nixon over the summer and the class was really fun. We had great discussions, and the class meshed and flowed really well. However when it came to our IEP and tests at the end, she wasn't as great. She was very vague on our Goals and Objectives, her "review" was barely helpful, and you HAVE to read the book to do well on the test. When I got my IEP back, she had written "Yuck" on one part and crossed it out. I was SHOCKED! Overall I made a B, but I expected some professionalism.

Professor can be funny, likes to talk a lot and very fast. Extremely unclear and unhelpful with expectations for the class or assignments. Due to natural of the class, I should have gotten more out of the class then I did. Does not communicate via email or phone.

I can't believe this professor is still teaching at UCO. She never taught this course. We had field trips on Fridays when class was supposed to be Tuesday night. We had guest speakers. No tests. Learned nothing.

she seems to know alot about her field, and care about the students, but her class was very boring and useless. Do not buy the packet from the copy store, you use like 4 of the pages. Print the IEP forms off of the web. She easily got off track, which became frustrating.

Basically you read the chapter do the study guide chapter then discuss in class. She puts emphasis on class participation--BIG TIME. She is an awesome teacher, knows her stuff, and has fun with it.The best part not one test.
