Great prof. Easily one of the most intelligent people I have met. He really has been everywhere (Africa, South America, NWT, etc.) and speaks everything. Really nice guy.

Overall the course wasn't bad at all. Like others below me, I had some issues like him being too quiet and the lectures being so confusing. Esp., the course material was too much on linguistics. However, he was extremely helpful in person! He solved all the problems I had (extended the deadline for essay for example!) He really cares about students

Nice guy and all.... but this class was hard to follow, and difficult to differentiate between what was important and what was not. It would have been useful if the lectures followed the outline and the material we were to be tested on was on the outline as well! He was also confusing in class, but very helpful during office hours. Avoid!!

Nice and smart! Can speak so many languages. But has a trouble explaining. As long as you read the book, exams/assignments aren't that hard, plus TA was very kind and fair. When you are not in the mood, lectures can be pretty boring.
