Bell is not that great a teacher, but has a very large ego and belt buckle. Would be a great class if it were taught in a middle school.

Dr. Bell was a great professor. If we missed classed, he gave us a chance to make up attendance by getting the notes from another student and showing them to him. His expectations are very clear for homework and tests. If you do the study guides, you'll have an easy time on test. He was very helpful and I 10/10 reccommend him to anyone taking econ

Dr. Bell is a great professor. His class can be boring at times but he presents the material in a clear and understandable way. If you pay attention most of the time and take pretty good notes you should do fine. Studying for quizzes and tests is necessary though. Does ask you to read a lot.

Others seem to feel that his classes are "boring", and I could see that if economics is more of a hobby or a filler subject for you. However, if you're passionate and interested about econ, his classes are certainly worth your time. A great thing about taking Dr. Bell his availability; as dept. head, his office hours are essentially whenever.

I'm a freshman and I had to take a 178 outside of my major. This was the only class left. Class was off for three weeks for advising and I learned absolutely nothing about economics. Super boring. Spends three classes finishing going over the syllabus. Super scatterbrained. Avoid if you can. We bought books for our textbooks, rent them.

Dr. Bell cares a lot about his job and you can really tell he loves what he does, however, his class is boring and he is very unclear. A lot of the time he will ramble on during lecture about things that barely pertain to class. Showing up for class is barely necessary.

Good guy who is willing to help outside of class and makes material practical. Can be a little dull, but felt class was practical and generally taught well.

Dr. Bell wants his students to excel in Economics and in their endeavors outside of UNCA, which he works hard to prepare you for. He expects a lot, but lays out the requirements clearly. If your slacking, he WILL call you out. Come to class, do all of the work, show initiative and you will do well.

Dr. Bell is extremely helpful if you show some initiative. He does over explain things to the point of making them complicated and hard to understand, and his lectures will put you to sleep they are so boring. However, he is extremely helpful outside of class, and his office hours are fantastic.

Too much exposition? Boring? He's a teacher, this isn't stand up comedy. Clarity and helpfulness, what more do you want? If you don't find the material interesting, then don't take the class.

I have never had a bad professor at UNCA, but this man takes the cake. He teaches like he is an elementary school teacher and does not have the benefit of the doubt for his students. He is narrow-minded and his quizes are never what we practice in class. If you have a question from the textbook, he will not explain it well at all.

Dr. Bell is occasionally misjudged by students because he's not a lax professor. He's neither laid back nor overbearing. He has clear-cut expectations; he is firm and consistent in acting on them. He helps students who help themselves. Engage with the material, talk to him outside of class, and be a patient student. You will make an A.

He is so fair and a really great guy! If the class did bad on a quiz, he would throw it out and include that material on the second quiz, giving you a second chance. He also always listened to your input and always took it into consideration. He's so so fair and definitely tells you what is going to be on the quizzes/tests. Definitely take him!

Dr. Bell will bend over backwards to help you understand the material. He holds study sessions before every big test and I found them very worth while. He is boring in class, but it isn't him as much as the material.

Terrible professor. Teaches is a boring/incredibly difficult to understand way. NEVER used the textbook, tough grader, overall, TERRIBLE. Doesn't matter how much you study, you will have no idea what will be on the test.

Quite boring, don't bother buying textbook, you won't touch it. He does use online study methods which REALLY helps since he doesn't explain things well in class at all. He is more of a friend than a professor, awesome outside of class. In class, he's not too great.

Over-explains things to a point that even simple topics make NO SENSE whatsoever. Half-way through the semester, we only covered chapter 1. Tends to be unprepared. Don't bother buying the textbook, EVERYTHING is powerpoint. you will struggle just to stay awake. awful awful awful.

Although he is a nice guy...he's classes are SO boring. In his lectures he would say the same thing three different ways. For the LSIC class I was in he was unprepared to give the assignments required for the course. Two weeks before final he tells about half the classes they need an additional 8-12 pages of writing to pass. Don't take him.

Although he is a good professor, his lectures are quite boring. He is very motivated in helping his students understands and provides ample time outside of class for help...but once again...his lectures are black and white...but very informative.
