Professor Cox has to be one on of the best Sociology professors at SJSU. He is hilarious and engaging with his lectures using real life experiences and situations. This professor doesn't rely too much on PowerPoint slides and just speaks out of knowledge. We watched a few films, group discussions, and class discussions. I highly recommend.

Cox is my favorite teacher at SJSU. he related a lot of the things we learned to real life and relatable experiences. Plus he's funny and he's willing to help. I appreciated when he walked with me outside of class so I could pick his brain about an assignment because he didn't have to. DO THE READING!Has a 10 pg term paper and 2 small ones.

Best Sociology professor at SJSU! super knowledgeable and extremely funny! no need prior knowledge of sociology. A Straight forward introductory course. Used my books TWICE for the midterm and final. Interesting and easy course. (Mandatory 24 hours of community service) Highly recommend volunteering at Third Street Community Center, tutoring kids.

He always answered every question and would share personal stories related to the lecture. 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 research paper, 2 essays, and a group presentation. You don't have to read the books just study the study guides.

If you can, you MUST take Cox! He is extremely engaging and when you wonder how a certain topic can possibly relate to sociology, he flawlessly connects them. He is also friendly, helpful, and funny. 3 EASY papers, a 10 page paper on whatever you want, a midterm, and final. Seems like a lot but you learn so much, the work will be effortless.

The textbook and course-reader are assigned for reading throughout the year for Soci57. The combined info from reading and lectures are in the two major tests we have for the class. He often gets side-tracked on stories during lectures but he is fun and knows his stuff. This is a service-learning class (24hrs min.).

Chris is an amazing teacher! Easy on papers and gives you thorough feedback. You only take two tests the whole semester and if you show up to class and read you will pretty much pass. Something about this class is that you want to listen to what he has to say so everyone pretty much shows up to class even though it's not mandatory.

The class itself is fun due to the interesting lectures, although I do not suggest taking it unless its a prereq, not worth the GE due to the work being demanded apart from Papers/journals that u have to write, you also have 24 hours of community service that you have to complete. And then there's is also midterms and a final....

Pretty cool teacher, he's hilarious. But..this class requires a ton of work! You must do all of the reading which for my class was three different books. Term paper is a suggested minimum of ten pages. Study guide were not that helpful.

Cool teacher, very understanding and open minded. I stressed out in the beginning since I just came from high school and he made the transition very easy for me and gave me good tips on how to do well in his class. Lectures are fun but study guides and prompts for papers are somewhat vague
