Comment:

Lectures for the most part were interesting. However, having historical background on both Greek and Roman history would be beneficial. The tests were hard and he backdoored many students on the final exam so you thought you'd be in a certain range but he screws you in the end to average out marks. He appears to be nice and can be funny sometimes

Very trying material. Too much reading for a half-course. Nice professor; tries his best to provide structure and clarity to the material. The Odyssey is the highlight; Iliad, Aeneid both plodding. Needs clearer reading schedule; doesn't give one. Tests challenging, but not undoable if you keep up with lectures.

Prof. McDonough is kind, funny, and stingingly witty. He made Latin class seem easy, and challenged us in Greek/Roman epic. Don't take his class if you're unwilling to work.
