Comment:

This is the most difficult course I've taken at Seneca but I also learned more than any other. Chris Szalwinski is possibly the most qualified prof at Seneca. He has a PhD in like math/physics as well as a degree in computer science, I think. Most seneca courses are fairly easy, this one is like university level CS.

Comment:

The only class I've ever dropped. If you understand C/C++, you should be ok. If you just made it through IPC144, choose another teacher! You are expected to read the chapter before the quiz (quizzes are very challenging) then he goes over the quiz as a lecture. He then briefly discusses the chapter. The class average on my midterm was 56%, ouch...

Chris is very experienced in C++ & multi-threading, take this course if you enjoyed OOP classes and want to learn more advanced topics (high-performance computing)/C++ libraries . Workshops left me disappointed though since most of them are not well-written and the tasks are poorly structured.

Very disappointing. This course has so much potential to be good, but the professor doesn't help. His explanations are OK, but the workshops are cryptic and vague (you will spend more time trying to understand the workshop than actually doing it). It gets to the point that it is just cumbersome and frustrating. Content: A+, execution: F.

Really intelligent prof, glad to have had the opportunity to learn from him. His notes are pretty dry and require a few readings to grasp, but he does an incredible job of explaining his notes in class. Reading the notes prior to his class helped a lot, had many "Aha! Now I get it!" moments when he explains things in class.

One of the best professors. It is his goal that you learn. Great teaching method. Makes something complicated seem very simple. I wish he was teaching all my classes. But Oh well, Seneca isn't perfect. Chris is.

Chris is an excellent professor! He never misses a lecture. He is always on time. He shows enthusiasm and interest while teaching. He is very helpful. He teaches the material so well, with drawing diagrams on the board and using visuals. He's funny too! It's too bad he doesn't teach rest of the BTP courses after BTP300. He uses online notes.
