I find Profesor Avenarius to be very hard to understand. Her teaching is basically her talking all the time and she is very hard to understand. She goes through her slides very fast and does not post them online. I am not doing very good in class right now; I will be very lucky if I even pass. If you want to take Anthropology, DO NOT choose her!

Comment:

Professor Avenarius is a good professor. She can intimidate some students, but I think if you come to class prepared (reading the assigned chapters, taking online quizzes) you should be fine. Her tests are conceptual and you have to think on some of the questions, but if you go her office hours, she is very helpful.

She is very nice and helpfl; bit disorganizd, but very bright: knows her stuff. Class material-if you have a questn about it, ask&she will try to explain; if still dont understnd, ask durng office hrs. Do the readings, papers, and ask questions-you will understnd&get a good grade. She is very generous and flexble w/due dates, as long as you learn.

She is a very nice lady, very helpful..but she is very disorganized and all over the place for class material. As long as the readings, summations, and essays are done you will do ok....She is very hot but the class is very boring!

she's all over the place and totally unstructured. Assignments are easy, but classroom lecture is very hard to follow with "we will be looking at...." and then when we get to the info, she goes very fast and it's impossible to take notes. Horrible class. Sure it's an easy A and she's a nice person, but I never can follow her.

I literally went to 3 classes plus exam days, didn't even do the paper, and still made a B. Had I done the paper it would've been an A for sure. Long story short, you don't have to anything other than make a thorough study guide (she posts all the notes on blackboard), study it, do the online quizzes, and show for exams. Easy as pie.

Extremely nice and helpful.Her lectures/powerpoints are kind of unorganized, but the tests are not too hard as long as you study the Study Guides.Also,gives online homework assignments, with multiple attempts, but don't forget them.The only aspect of this class that I really wasn't fond of was the paper we had to write at the end of the semester.

Professor Avenarius is a great professor who is passionate about her work and the material. She gives lectures & puts notes online. You will have 2 essays & presentations, 1 short essay midterm & a short essay final. There will also be about 5 easy HW assnmts. Easy class if you just show up and take notes. EAsy class....sexy accent, very helpful. The only thing is you must be prepared for the quizzes and do the assigned readings. for the most part the class is laidback i didnt have to study much, just pay attentionin class and you will be ok.

I loved her. She wore a mini-China dress the first day of class. She takes notice when you put effort into your work, and loves class discussions. Assigned several papers and tests were essay format - she could be a tough grader. If you participate regularly, she will happily help you with anything.

Shes awesome! her tests are pretty easy and she gives quizzes usually on thursdays. She is very understanding and goes out of her way to help you out! She really helped me and if u go to class its an easy B at least! Take her if u can she was my favorite professor last semester!

She is an awesome teacher. At times there were a slight language barrier, but I know German, so it was good. Definitely go to class and study your notes. I can't recall cracking open my book and make sure you read all of her assigned articles. GREAT CLASS!
