She is a great idea of a teacher for anything that is 3000 or higher, she expresses to harsh of grading on everything, for I had a 2600 history writing seminar that graded easier than this teacher on daily writing assignments. Lectures are bit long and drawn out, and if you are there about Europe as a whole, you are in the wrong classroom.

Best professor in the department! She puts a lot of effort into the course and the readings were thoughtful and interesting! Can't recommend Dr. Haynes enough for historiography, especially on the Revolution!

Dr. Haynes is amazing! My favorite class and professor by far, and I will be taking her again! There is a lot of reading to do, but if you put in the effort you will be fine! She is willing to help you if you need it. Lectures were always engaging and the assignments (especially the simulation journal) were very fun! I would recommend her!

Professor Haynes is wonderful, and cares about her student's success in class. However, that doesn't mean she is easygoing. She will expect you to do the work and participate in the group discussions/projects (which are really fun). All in all, if you do what you are supposed to as a student it will be a really great experience.

I'm a rising senior and thought I had bad teachers before I took this mandatory class for the minor, and I have never been more wrong. -lecture her talking non-stop for 75 min - written exam, starts you off at a C and you work your way up or down - expects 7-10 paragraph essay on essay portion of exam 40 minutes (I wrote 10 and got a B)

This course is a difficult one. The readings are long and sometimes confusing but required to understand historiography. Papers need to be written well otherwise you will be graded harshly. The professor expects you to know how to analyze academic writing by this point and will not allow late assignments or extra credit. Do the work and you're fine

This class is wonderful! Her teaching made me decided to become a History major. Yes the tests are essay and you have to know your stuff, but she is always trying to help you get a better grade. She offers tutoring and essay writing help, lectures are interesting but sometimes it gets hard to focus. She offers extra credit if you are trying.

Ridiculous expectations for a 1000 level history course. Lectures were boring and had nothing to do with topics covered in exams. She expected you to memorize 10-12 primary documents for exams. Exams were open ended questions. Graded very harshly for an intro class. History 'simulation' was a waste. Lots of writing. Avoid if possible.

Very good lectures that will make taking the tests very easy as long as you can write well. Paramount to passing is being able to refer to documents from lectures. Textbook is very optional HOWEVER the DVD that comes in the textbook is required!

There is a ton of reading and research to do, but if you do it you shouldn't struggle with exams. I'm not the best writer and wound up with a B. Shes very nice and personable so if you're lost on something just ask her and she will help.

Her expectations are astronomical. Fr a beginner course, she has made my course load entirely different from what it should be at only 12 credit hours this semester. She's better off teaching graduate level courses.

If you like to write, this is the class for you. Dr. Haynes is always willing to help you understand her assignments and the material. The class is discussion based and there are very few notes to be taken. You do have to read, but compared to most classes, the load is pretty light. The class will improve your writing and it is very interesting

Nice teacher, but terrible notes. Her slides contain one picture and one sentence, the rest you have to get from her speaking. I found it hard to take good notes in her class. Also, she made us do a journal, which wasn't hard, but was completely useless and monotonous. Her tests were all essay format! 3 essays each.

Dr. Haynes is a good graduate instructor. She challenges the grad students, but does not overwhelm us with useless information. The texts she assigned for this course were somewhat esoteric, but (for the most part) very good books. Her grading is fair, or perhaps even a touch on the liberal side. She's a good prof, & worth taking a course with.

Dr. Haynes is nice, but BORING. I had her for a hist. class which was mostly about spying, she did not even try to make the class fun or interesting. She gives quizzes on the boring books you HAVE to read and the papers also come from the books. Dr. Haynes is okay but her teaching style is dissapointing, I would recommend her, but not this class
