Kind of a tough call on Sears. She'll put you on the spot in class if you don't speak up. She also grades pretty hard. She's a smart woman but I think her class was just a bit too stressful. She's moving away after this summer. Like others have said: don't take if you don't have to.

lectures are done without her putting notes on the board or on a powere point, she just talks and goes through the info kind of fast, reading is very important, lots of pop quizes, midterm and final are made up of lots of information,a hard grader on papers, nice tho, dont take if u dont have too

She is probably the best History Professor i have ever had. She tries to make the class as easy as possible. The readings are interesting and funny, while we still learn stuff. Read the quotes from just one of her classes!

I had this professor a couple of semesters ago-let's just say she's a nice person, who tries to make the class interesting, but she grades ridiculously harsh on all assignments and gave a reading quiz, and attitude when about 1/2 the class couldn't get to a website due to a faulty URL she gave out in her syllabus! Take w/a different Prof!

Her lectures and the reading are very interesting. She's also funny and helpful, but she's a VERY hard grader. She'll take off points because you didn't write enough, she'll take off points because you wrote too much and she'll take off points because you forgot a comma. Hope and pray that the TA grades your exams.

She is a bad teacher. I took the winter course which was 2 and a half hours long. Not only did we have to get in a stupid circle everyday, but she gave random quizez. The readings were somewhat interesting but shes kinda hard. I wouldn't take her again, shes too stressful.

I don't know what you people are talking about. She is a cool lady. Her class is discussion based-she doesn't just spoon feed!I ace her little assignments, and pop quizzes b/c she gives a lot of extra credit-though I don't know about her tests, since we didn't have one yet. Anyway-don't listen to these naysayers below me-she rocks!

Horrible teacher,barely learned anything from her.Test are hard because she gives no assistance in preparing you for what to expect or what she expects from you,lecture focuses on discussion but doesnt help you on tests. I highly recommend NOT taking this class, not only was it alot of readings, I didnt learn anything from the professor

Professor was not able to provide the envirnoment to have the students think for themselves. Spoon fed notes and tests were hardly fair due to the preparation time given topics never appearing on the tests. Very dissapointed in content and teaching methodology.

Her essay tests are hard but only because you really don't know what to expect...and what to study. Sears is pretty cool though, and pretty intersting. Just study hard and tak EXCELLENT notes...

I worked hard and got an a in this class. Why don't you all quit whining because a teacher challenged you and the rampant grade inflation at our school! Put down your beer and pick up your books! If you're not good with history this is hard class, not all classes should be!
