She really cared if you passed. But, it's chemistry and it was tough. She had fill in notes that you had to print out, and it definitely was a useful study tool. I spent a lot of time studying, and sometimes didn't do well. She responds to emails right away. Lecture is fast paced. Lots of work to do each day and at home. Not for everyone.

As a person who completely bombed chem in high school so I was worried but this class ended up being my fav class of the semester. Zaccagnino makes the material funinteresting. She gives a lot of assignments (quizzes, hw sets, and lab reports once a week) but they help your grade if you actually try. Grades assignments quickly & posts on canvas.

Mrs. Z is so nice and helpful but she is not the best Gen Chem Professor at UMW. She does her notes through a powerpoint & for me personally, that didn't help much. There is too much math to just use slideshows. Her office hours were always crowded because soo many people needed help.

I read the other responses and felt they were unfair. She is not an easy A,but no Chem Professor is. Chem is difficult but if you put in the time, you get the grade. No one used their own final, they were all made up by the same professor for EVERY class. I found her to be the most approachable science professor I have ever had. A great prof.

She's extremely nice but not the best gen chem professor. You can do well in the class but i would recommend studying alot outside of class because when you take her class, the book is what will teach you chemistry. she doesn't use her own powerpoints, quizzes, or final. So, learn the material from the book and you will do fine.Be meticulous on labs

What a nightmare. Worst science instructor I have ever had. If the class falls behind, tough luck. She'll put what she didn't go over on the test anyways. Her tests were hard, arbitrary, and pretty tricky. She never handed things back on time and never had time for proper review sessions- they'd always be at night. Take scott or giancarlo.

Prof. Z is a great teacher. She really does take the time to explain things to you to make sure you understand. If you don't get them the first time, she will explain them again a different way. I had her for Gen Chem and Orgo, and I would take her again for any class I needed that she taught.

Very well done. Very willing to help her students, which is hard to come by with Chem professors. Not exactly the most dynamic classes, but then again it's Organic Chem... If she teaches a section of Organic again, take it!

One of the best professors I've had. She clearly outlines her grading, gives extra credit, and weighs the (easy) labs heavily. The weekly quizzes are annoying but won't bring down your grade.
