Comment:

Good prof. He provided all the step-by-step answers to the practice Qs online. In the first exam, he allowed a cheat sheet, and he was very accommodating when I was going away and asked to write the exam at another time. His lectures are boring, and overly, not useful because you can teach yourself at home. Didn't find there was a lot of reading.

No instruction whatsoever. The course is basically a bunch of pdfs uploaded online, also video lectures not from even the same prof (Prof Tulett). The TAs grade everything and gives unprofessional feedback. You can pass the course, just do the practice questions - but you're all on your own.

Would not recommend. Gives terrible questions on his exams that are misleading and not easy to solve. Uses strange numbers and fractions. Reviewing old test was no help.

Comment:

Useful course, you'll gain advanced proficiency in many Excel functions, or at least for someone like me who only knew the sum function. Be ready to pour over the practice questions like there is no tomorrow, that was the only thing that helped me (& calc) - found the course videos to be useless, I can read the course manual fine on my own thanks.

He expects you to know everything from the book. Lets you know what he thinks is important for test and still asks you heavily weighted questions that were not specified as important. Feedback is minimal, you'd have to go see him to get an explanation. He reads from his notes and stutters over material when he loses his place. AVOID!!!

This course is tough! Christopher provides feedback and lots of examples. Although he is a difficult marker, He is very reachable. Would probably take another course by him.

Comment:

Hard course overall, midterms are very fair. Get ready to read the chapters assigned. If you have questions ask the prof or use his online material because he posts lots of exercises and answers, at the end I got a good grade but studied for hours for each tests. If you want to do well get ready to study, it is as simple as that.

PLEASE, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF FOR ANY OF YOUR COURSES. I didnt understand ONE word he said during the entire semester. His tests are very hard and long. I WISH I LISTENED to the reviews. YOU will have to teach yourself the entire course.

You basically have to read the notes and teach yourself to pass this course. He's a good guy and he's very knowledgeable about the subject but this course is just hard in general. His hand writing is hard to read.

Did it online not completely impossible, The Mid Terms are fair however the final is worth an insane amount. The course is pretty hard and you have to study ALOT. Only met him a couple of times nice guy, hard to know what he is saying.

Comment:

Deacon was a pretty good prof, despite what others say. He's pretty quiet, so sit in the front if you can. Assignments are fairly easy, Tests are similar to the previous ones he provides students with. The course is dry anyways, so I think Deacon does a pretty good job teaching it. If you need help, he's there. He really isn't all that bad.

Comment:

He's a sweet enough guy, but he's very quiet, if you don't sit near the front, you will not be able to hear very well, which makes it hard to concentrate on the lecture, especially since it is very dry. He also stutters quite a lot which doesn't help. I find his teachings to be very unclear, but that could just be me.

Very nice person, but bad at this subject. Unable to answer questions about problems (asked how to do a problem and he said he did not know because the marker checked them). Tests much harder than assignments. Uses Tulett's notes.

Does not provide complete examples. Can be confusing as he does not answer questions very well. Often goes on and on about topics that aren't even being tested. Moreover, he omitted to teach some things that WERE being tested and students had no idea. On the bright side, he does have a slight sense of humour!

Nice enough person but brutal as a Prof. You can not hear him half the time and skips through stuff that MUST be important because it was on the Midterm. Can not understand his explanations ...Good Luck if you take this class, you will do all the work on your own

He means well... I just don't understand why somebody thought it was a good idea to put such a bad prof on such a difficult course. Did a 2.5 hour class with him one day a week and he taught for about 1 hour of it, then sent us home. No idea what he plans on testing. What's more, you might think you did great on a test, but end up with a 60.

Terrible prof. Class is not organized and he basically wings his lectures. Almost impossible to read his writing. Not clear with what to actually study and makes his exams harder than they need to be.
