I have never in my life felt more inspired, challenged, and more in awe of my own abilities and the abilities of my classmates then in Claire Borody's ATAP class. Her way of teaching is rough, scattered, and may turn you off initially, but I encourage you to stick through it. It'll be well worth it.

The knowledge Claire has of theatre is bewildering. You may think you know what theatre is all about before your first day, but by the final night, your classmates' performances will blow your mind. Claire is proof of how interesting styles other than realism are. You may find her in-class exercises dull, but you will discover how useful they are.

I completely understand if Claire turns you off initially. I think she may try to do that, but overall, Claire is one of my favorite profs. She pushes because she cares. She is a genius in her field. You may seem like activities are pointless, but pay attention. Claire knows what she's doing. Love her.

wow i do not like this class whatsoever. I am a theatre major in education and as an education student i don't agree with her teaching style AT ALL. she IS very knowledgable, but makes it HARD for students. yes, scatterbrained, yes unclear in what she expects but also very unfair. theatre is very subjective, but she is a hard marker. difficult!!!

Absolutely life-changing class! I developed a new way of thinking about movement, and a new way of talking about performance. Claire is a very non-liner thinker (ie somewhat scatterbrained), so if you can't deal with that, try another professor. Otherwise, take her courses. You will think of acting in a new way.

I LOVE CLAIRE. She is amazing. Take her class, you will learn so much about acting and yourself. Her TA, Ian, is amazing as well. She will make you work and push your boundaries. Some people find her hard to follow and disorganized but you just can't be too linear when you're in her class. And don't be late!

Claire is someone who knows what she is talking about. She is really into dramatic arts and it is written all over her face, which is extremely refreshing. NOT an easy grade. Be prepared to do work! Make sure you are on time, as she will lock you out of her classroom and come get you when she remembers... And that might be at the end of class!

Love Claire. Super interesting classes, and she def knows what she is talking about. So helpful when it comes to scenes. Doesn't allow students to do realism scenes, which opened the class up to so many other styles and possibilities. Be creative, she has high expectations but will reward students that work hard and take risks. Super prof!

First off, It's called Theatre History, but with Claire it's pretty much play analysis. So expect an English class, not a History one. TERRIBLE with getting your papers/tests back within a reasonable amount of time, if at all. Lots and lots of overhead notes, and she doesn't post the slides online.

I love Claire. If you want a challenging course which doesn't focus on stupid realism you've been doing for too long and would rather a broader knowledge of drama and would like to actually get alot of skill, take this class! Claire teaches us things I've NEVER taught anywhere else. And she is clear!!!

Good class. Lot's of note taking! Encouraged class discussion and reading aloud of plays. If you don't know the plays you can't get away with ****ting it. Love her and respect her- one of my fav theatre profs!!

Note this: if you rely on lectures to learn material don't take her course. The woman can't finish a sentence. She has poor listening skills but participates in the activities. She has a quick temper and is a tough marker. Beware if she keeps the same TA (Charlene) because she is THE WORST TA ever. Completely irresponsible and patronizing to boot.

Claire has an interesting take on Theatre History. Though obviously she is a performance teacher, she took on the lofty task of teaching everything between Greek and Jacobean theatre. Her use of wit and humour makes up for the sometimes dull note taking. Caution, wrist will hurt after note taking!
