To be fair, this guy is an awesome lecturer. I'd initially had him for my Black History class and really enjoyed him, which made it an easy decision for me to take him again for my HIS102 seminar. In a class of that small of a size, however, I quickly found out that he's overly temperamental, disrespectful, and egotistical. Avoid his seminar

Poor quality. The lectures are boring, very hard to follow, in the end you can't take notes. 2 papers, no midterm & a final that will determine your grade. No study guide, 7 texts- you don't know what will be on final. In the end it was the ONE text I didn't read much of.You won't get anything out of this class unfortunately, but maybe a bad grade.

BY FAR.. GREATEST PROF OF DAVIS! He may not be the youngest, most attractive, easiest, or nicest, but his passion for history will wake you up and inspire you to learn more about Amer. Hist. Im taking his second class, and in all honesty, i cannot stay away from it! You learn a ton from him and his office hours are more than helpful!

What an amazing professor. The most entertaining and interesting teacher I've had at davis. Lectures were fun, made material interesting. Took during summer, grade was midterm, pretty easy (1 essay q) and final, bit more difficult (2 essay q's). Had to read text, and a Twain book. Definitely recommended. prob harder during year but still great!

make sure you either read all the 7 books, or formulate a group to read them. Really hard grader. He reads his lectures to class and he doesn't stimulate topic discussion. Try taking someone else if you can.

Jacksonian America: 1800s leading up to the civil war. Midterm, cummulative final, and some participation points to get you to his lectures. Walker reads most of them, but every couple of lectures were hilariously rehearsed. Usually >5-minutes for questions at the end of class.

Must admit he might be one of the best professors in any department. Clear, extremely knowledgeable, great understanding of what he asks u and wants in his class & great command in his lecture. If u talk or interrupt he will let u know. Grading he did the grading, no TA, was very fair. Likes students to participate, wants u analyze and think. A++

Professor Walker is very intelligent and knows his stuff. Sometimes he can be a little short with students when answering questions but he always does it in a funny manner. He has a great outlook on current events and relating them to the past, and his past is interesting. The films he shows in class are wonderful, but the reading is a bit much

Clarence Walker is a great professor. He can be confusing sometimes, but he'll make you laugh. Be prepared for a lot of reading, but most of it doesn't hve to be all read, just skim for the stuff he;s looking for on your paper. He doesn't discuss the books in class, only the lectures. Also be prepared for a lot of explicit images.

Walker was awesome! The TA Greg Smithers was great as well. Very helpful during office hours and willing to read as many drafts of your paper as you brought in. I thought the material would be dull but Walker made it very interesting. One book was boring - The Pequot War.

Pros: Interesting lectures, engaging style. Super nice guy and always willing to answer questions and facilitate discussions. Cons: Reads about half of his lecture from something he has pre-prepared; sometimes he speed reads, so it's hard to keep up. Overall, I highly recommend Professor Walk
