Comment:

Clarinda Harriss is an amazing teacher. She encourages your creativity and doesn't bombard you with too much work. You will have to write 1 poem per week pertaining to each week's discussion. She is an easy-going and fun teacher and the 2 hour and 40 minute class was never boring. Take her if you can, shes absolutely wonderful.

Prof. Harriss is crazy...& I loved it. She is so much fun, so full of creativity & I definitely enjoyed this class. I just took it as a GenEd. I'm a bio major & I'm glad I took it with her. Class basically consists of writing a poem each week & working shopping a few poems from 2 ppl in class.

I took her classes in fall 1995 and 1996; she helped me to grow as an artist and she taught me to appreciate poetry, which I now do. She changed my life and helped create my graduate school experience. There's no one like her! I am grateful to have been her student and to have experienced the depth of her generousity.

The class is laid-back and largely student-run, but that doesn't mean it's useless. Clarinda is an intelligent, open-minded, and genuinely warm person who cares deeply about all of her students. The Grub Street group ends up as a family anyway, with their own in-jokes and pet peeves, and I think I can say that all of us were sad when it was over.

What can I say about Clarinda? First of all, she's brilliant. A fantastic poet and just an amazing lady! I could listen to her talk for hours. I'm completely in love with her.... She's so laid back and easy going, but very passionate about writing. And so very helpful, she's willing to help in any way that she can. Take everything with her!

I love this woman! I wasn't sure I'd be in to poetry but she is so fun and crazy she makes you like it. Just do the work, hand in your stuff, post on blackboard and you will get an A. She is one of the best teachers I've had at Towson.

Clarinda's enthusiasm for the written word is amazing (and contagious)! Grubstreet was a fun class, mostly run by the students, but Clarinda was more than willing to offer input and suggestions regarding grades, workshopping poetry/fiction and future submissions. She's so nice.

She is dizzy and acts like a 13 year old mall rat girl. I got an A b/c she's easy. When she can't explain what she is teaching she gets angry (to many mind farts w/ her). her class is a joke and if her clases were terminated it wouldnot make or break the eng. department.

Clarinda is amazing! Those who rated her poorly obviously have little interest in poetry. She is so adamant about your poetry; she doesn't care if it fits her standards. Her only concern is that you like what you have written. I love her; I will take her over and over again!!!

This class allows you to get to know people in a different light. Clarinda is very passionate about what she does and is very affluent in the world of poetry. The class gets a little old after a while but if you are "gung hoe" about poetry take it!
