Professor Yoder is a good guy with an old school sense of humor. If you do all of the problem sets thoroughly and take notes in class then you should be fine. He will like you a lot if you show Improvement throughout the semester.

Other posts depict Dr. Yoder as unreasonable. If you actually DO THE WORK expected of you and study adequately, the exams are not difficult. AP Chem is not required; lectures are clear enough that no prior knowledge is necessary. Those who gripe about Yoder do not work hard enough in the class, in which case he will single you out and dislike you.

The class is really easy if you know how to do Chemistry. But in all seriousness he is quirky and it depends on what you think of him. If you like him as a person you like him as a teacher, if not, you don't

Professor Yoder is very harsh and demanding. He expects his students to know everything even if you didnt have ap chem and he didnt cover it. As a person he is nice. He cares about student's personal life which can be sweet and caring, but he also does not know when to stop asking question when a student is uncomfortable with it.

Dr. Yoder is one of the most wonderful profs that I have ever had. He really cares about his students. He is very lenient in grading quizzes and lab reports. Reading textbook before and after class is a must. Even if you take AP Chem in high school, you still might not be able to get an A in his class.

You will most likely work harder than you ever have in your life to get an A in General Chemistry with Dr. Yoder. The rumors about him being "out to get you" are completely false. That being said, he WILL target you if he feels like you don't give a crap. If you put in the time, you'll know your chemistry by the end of the semester.

I'm currently in my second semester with Dr. Yoder. His classes were fairly difficult until I figured out how to study for his quizzes and tests. I'd recommend rewriting your notes so you can review what was covered in class versus all that is covered in the textbook. It's important to thoroughly understand the concepts that he presents.

It really means a lot when 10 out of 32 people dropped his gen chem class. He makes chemistry too conceptual and it is hard for a lot of students to grasp and when you ask for help he gives you questions that you don't know how to answer. My advice? Stay away

Oh Yoder....well for his age he is a good teacher. However, he is VERY DIFFICULT. You will need to study for his exams a lot. He has his favorites and if you don't do well in the class, he might think you are dumb. Easy grader on labs. Just exams are tough and final was extremely tough

Prof Yoder is the worst professor I have had at F&M. I loved chem is highschool, but he made college chem aweful. He says he is willing to help you, but when I would go for help he did not explain things clearly. My advice, just stay away from him!

Lecture-style classes can be a little dry at times, but he spiced things up with his unique humor. He's great at helping students, very understanding, and generally clear with what he teaches. Grading is fair, and tests/quizzes are generally easy if you study. No previous experience in chem. necessary for this class.

The class is easy if you have had a lot of background experience in chemistry. Yoder can be very helpful if come and talk to him after class, yet at times in class he is unclear. Labs are extremely easy; quizzes are fair. Some the test questions can be challenging. Overall, he is a good professor with a sense of humor and makes chem bearable.
