Boring lectures. The only I have ever learnt in a lecture is that there are 237 ceiling tiles in AT 101. I wouldn't take a course with him even if he is your only choice take it at another university. I have no idea what he tries to teach but that its not chemistry trust me.

Dr. Pye is an awesome guy. He's super funny and really cool! But as a prof he is not great. The lectures are pre-made by someone else I believe and he just reiterates the info to the class. He is very fast paced. This was the hardest course I've taken at SMU. I averaged 20+ hours per week studying for his difficult weekly quizzes. Be prepared.

Cory Pye was an ok prof., his lectures were mainly filled with many failed attempts of trying to be humorous rather than teaching his students how to calculate and use equations. He hasnt teached the course in a very long time so he deserves a little leniency, however his final exam consisted of nothing from the chapters he taught from lectures.

Don't take this class if you want to pass. His lecture slides are messy or wrong or not helpful at all. His tests are complete BS and he provides no help. He is notorious here for just making people fail due to unrelated or ridiculous questions on midterms and exams. No formula sheet provided

Great person, horrible teacher. I've learned nothing this whole semester and the final is in a few days. His lectures are literally useless and his quizzes and midterm aren't related to the material we go over in class at all. We're also never given a clear study guide for the midterm of the final coming up in a few days.

Very warm and bubbly professor but he is more like a tutor than an actual teacher. Quizzes every thursday with one question. The one question usually arises from areas he spent little to no time on. Invested time into preparing for the midterm and it was terrible.

Worst prof ever, midterm average was 46%, and it was better than his class last year. He only derives equations in class, and occasionally says that you need to know this, because most of the class is unnecessary. Full formal lab report every week, from lab manuals where there are actual mistakes in the theory/ procedure that he is too lazy to fix!

Nice guy but horrible teacher, terribly unorganized, unclear expectations, and not to mention his writing on the board is messier than a preschooler. You'll learn the material better by avoiding lectures and teaching yourself with the textbook.

Always late to lab, quite a tough marker (I divided by amount of solution, not solvent, and lost 50%... VERY SMALL MISTAKE) And not very helpful when it comes to helping you. Avoid him if possible.

If you take Phys Chem with Pye, don't bother going to class. He just derives stuff which you do not need and reads the math directly from the slide. He wont even explain what the math represents, it could be number of bananas who all he cares. Just read the textbook and do the problems in the book and you'll learn more than you can from Pye.

Course was very hard, I worked my backside off for that A, in both assignments and lab work but I learned a great deal. He was very enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. And those of us that were willing to work at it he was willing to work with us to improve our understanding.

Be prepared to work hard. This guy is pretty friendly and likes to joke around but you need to study hard for his tests just to pass. Need to remember every little detail he says for the quizzes. The majority of my class failed. I made an A in first semester Chem but got a D in his course. Ruined any desire I had to choose Chemical Engineering.

This prof is literally one of the hardest chem profs I've ever had. Trying to understand and take down his notes is a task in itself, let alone trying to understand all the concepts. Textbook use IS mandatory here. He is a good marker, but his midterm/final aren't easy.

You need to learn from the text book because a monkey might be able to write better then him and his teaching skills are slim. No pun intended. His first two test arent bad but his final is stupid, not fair at all and he loves every minute of it

Didnt learn anything in this class, only how to plug #s into formulae. Pwrpts were derivations and theory with no examples. Assmnts were extremely long calcns. The tests were fair but the work wasn't any sort of preparation for them. We learnt more about his fav bar and the birds in the window than about chem. Avoid this professor at all costs.
