Prof. McClintock has been one of my absolute favorites. She is so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. I really enjoyed her lectures, but you do need to be there to get a powerpoint handout because she doesn't post them. The papers were manageable, and there wasn't a ton of reading. I learned so much and can't wait to take another class of hers

LOVED Cynthia. As a huge Latin America/Foreign Policy nerd, this class was everything I wanted and more. She's a well-respected expert on Peru and the region as a whole. Class was more of a discussion rather than a 2-hour lecture. Group projects were fun and easy. If you're into LatAm, 110% must take this class.

She is an absolutely excellent professor. If you put in effort you will learn a lot. Make sure you participate in class, go to lecture, read as much as possible though its not 100% necessary if you pay attention in class. Tests are challenging, she asks hard questions, but if you study and pay attention it's very manageable. Highly recommended.

She gives a good amount of reading, but it all is not necessary. Going to class is the most important part. She grades pretty tough & takes a while to give stuff back. If you don't have any experience in Latin American Studies the class will be harder. There are 2 essays, a quiz, and final. Quiz and final are hard and have very specific details.

McClintock is very helpful but this class is very hard and takes a lot of effort. Its not impossible to do well, but you will be spending a lot of time and effort in order to get an A.

Cynthia McClintock is the most knowledgeable professor on Latin America at GW. Take her classes if you want to learn. She gives the handout of her presentations so its really easy to take notes. Participation sort of counts but its useful/interesting to hear the Latin American students and their perspectives

The class goes by pretty slow. She assigns a good amount of readings, but it is manageable. She is very knowledgeable in the subject and gets a lot of good speakers to visit. She grades tough though, and expects you to know your stuff. The Power Points are very helpful

5% attendance, 15% quiz, 20% critical paper, 25% research paper, 35% final. Hilarious laugh and comments, use of the video is great, so knowledgeable on Latin America and so passionate. Send her your essays for feedback, its great! Easy grader on essays, but the quiz and exam are long and tedious. Better study every single detail for both.

The people that say you need to do all the readings and she doesnt teach must be half retarded. She gives clear cut notes from a typed outline and she tests directly off of it. I learned so much in this class and she is one of the most knowledgable professors ive ever had. awesome speakers and usually cool videos from crisis to go with lecture.

McClintock is extremely knowledgeable about Latin America, gives typed outlines for every lecture, and tests pretty much exactly off of what she puts in the outline. There is a lot of reading, but it is manageable. Great class for anyone interested in Latin America. Everyone in the class is very knowledgeable about LA too...

Very good class and good speakers...we had the former president of Costa Rica come and speak to our small class! She is passionate and it comes accross in her lectures. However, there is TONS of reading to do and I recommend that you stay on top of it.

She is nice but insane. Her lectures are unbelievably incoherent and her tests are very difficult, focusing on pretty obscure and useless info. You will have to learn all info on own. Interesting subject but bad class.
