Prof. Slagter was a breath of fresh air for me. She is so kind and caring. She wants her students to learn and do well in the course, and she is willing to change class plans in order to spend more time on areas of difficulty. Tests were straightforward and there were no surprises. I learned a lot from her!

So far I am halfway into her course. She is a wonderful professor. We do a lot of independent learning online and then practice in class. There are 6 tests and she is very clear on what will be on them. She is very helpful. Do all of the homework and practice a lot and you will do great in the class :). When I came to Calvin I was a little upset that I had to take spanish, but because of Slagter I am almost considering it as a minor. Slagter rocks! You must get on her good side early though. She is great at helping me understand the material. I haven't had any other spanish profs here so I don't know how she compares but I highly recommend her.

Here class was all online not always the easiest to understand. She loves to see students succeed and wants you to talk to her if you are struggling. Attendance is important but if you miss a few classes you will be fine. Gives quizzes every week some of them are very easy and others are very hard. Be prepared to work with partners in class.

She was very nice and fun to talk to but the structure of the class was a little disorganized. Granted, it was her first time teaching this particular class but it would have been nice to the requirements for the final project more than the week before.

I definitely recommend taking Spanish with Profe Slagter. She has a Spain accent, so it is hard to understand her sometimes. Otherwise, she is an amazing professor. She gives a lot of quizzes and tests, but they are easy because she provides lots of review guides. Expect about an hour of homework every night.

Profe Slagter is a good teacher. She is very approachable and laid back, yet she is very smart, sometimes to the point of her feeling smarter than her class. There wasn't much homework in the class, but the tests were slightly difficult. Overall I would pick her again for a Spanish class.

Absolutely fantastic! Explains everything very well and is an extremely nice professor. If I were to continue with Spanish I would for sure want to have Professor Slagter again! I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

At the beginning of the semester, I really liked her. She didn't make me feel nervous. She is sometimes difficult to read, but she seems to care about students and she is passionate about her faith. However, she did NOT tell us ANYTHING about our semester project until the week before Thanksgiving which caused MUCHO stresso.
