Comment:
Dill made the CH101 lectures somewhat interesting. The class was interactive and called on people to encourage participation. He contradicted himself several times during lecture, however, and was a bit boring at times. A good person to talk to if you need help, as well. Excellent with questions.

CH101 is brutal, but Dan Dill makes it bearable. There are quizzes (via clicker) every lecture. He makes the material easier to understand. He's quite the character.

Dill is a tough lecturer but is the best of the three professors for CH101. All of the lecture slides are posted along with recordings of each lecture. The website is well maintained. Lectures are mandatory to answer the quiz questions. Discussion plays the most important role in this class. Do your discussion packets and show up to office hours.

I really like him during lecture. He tries to be funny, he is clear almost all the time. The problem is that it is chemistry...

This class is unnecessarily hard, no partial credit on tests (and if you ask why you get a round-a-bout, vague explanation), test are based almost entirely upon discussion. You get quizzed on material immediately after learning it. Basically if you're not naturally inclined to math/science you're going to struggle A LOT.

People say that CH101 is difficult and impossible to get a good grade in, but it will honestly be based on how much effort you put into learning the material. Prof. Dill does well in reviewing all the material that you will need to know for the exams (all lectures are recorded), and you will still need to go to class to take lecture quizzes.

This is the toughest class I've had yet. The exams are entirely based on the discussion packets while the lectures cover some general material that you can teach yourself from the textbook. I don't find the lectures very helpful and the tests are absolute hell. More of a self-taught class but at least attend office hours when you can.

Dan Dill's class in the Summer was an absolute hell. He can be really rude to students and made the class as difficult as possible. His lecture quizzes are really irritating, and no matter how hard you work, it will not show. I would highly recommend taking a different professor.

At least for me, the lectures were crucially important! Dill broke down complicated topics into understandable terms most of the time, and there would usually be at least one question on each exam that tied back to what was explicitly covered in class. However, the pop quizzes required an immediate understanding of the material just covered :(

People say he's mean and rude but... Speaking from someone who was always in his office hours and lectures, he is REALLY engaging with a distinct sense of humor. He is fast paced and gets right to the point which I really like plus I HIGHLY recommend his office hours!!! he makes everything super clear and teaches you multiple shortcuts to use in ex

To be fair, CH102 is a pretty hard class. You need to be willing to put in the work in order to do well. That being said, though, Dill certainly didn't help the process sometimes because his lectures were a little all over the place and he contradicted himself sometimes, making it extremely hard to learn effectively. Good luck.

CH101 is a really hard class in general. I found that Dill's lectures were not helpful whatsoever but you still have to understand the info he presents. Make sure you go to discussion and do the packets well because those will help you do at least decent. Reach out to TAs and study in groups. There is a huge curve at the end.

Dill gets a bad rep because the tests are incredibly difficult. However as a professor, his lectures are pretty nice. He is caring and does stop to ask if everything is clear. Make sure you do discussion packets bc they are the closest things to exams. I'm gonna recommend CH109 over this class since they have more manageable tests.

Professor Dill's lectures often had nothing to do with the exams. Exams were entirely based on material learned in your discussion sections. Some students liked Dill, but he was rather condescending and was unclear in his teaching. Premed students and other science majors would be wise to consider taking Abrams instead.

Professor Dill is a great teacher. His lectures are fun and helpful, all you really need to do is prepare for them by pre-reading the textbook. He does, however, tend to get a little high sometimes (not literally) and makes cringy jokes, but in general he's very nice.

Fun professor but isn't the best at clarifying his topics! CH101 is not an easy class, so be prepared to feel stressed. Dill will make it fun but you must get outside help, something I didn't really do.

By far the hardest class that I took this semester. CH101 is the weed-out class at BU, but Dill does a good job explaining a lot of the material. You have to put in a lot more work that isn't mandatory though. Discussion packets are given every week and you have to do them in order to understand the material. Very helpful in office hours

Very hard class but Dan is an amazing lecturer. I liked him a lot and felt that he knew his stuff and really cared if you understood it too. Really useful to go to his office hours. That being said, still crazy difficult class.

Currently failing without the curve. We'll see if I even pass. This class is clearly a weed-out for premed. Dill was often funny, sometimes condescending. Tests were way, way, WAY harder than any material from lecture and discussion. Quizzes in every class section. sometimes messed up explanations, leading to more confusion. NEED to study trust me
