He will not post weekly reading/assignments until later in the day on the days he says he will- leaving you with a limited amount of time to finish a LOT of homework. Assignment will say one thing and he will grade you outside of it. Tells you 2 responses are fine for full credit but only gives you 80% for 2 responses and suggests you respond more.

The different aspects of work involved in this class, which require a normal amount of work, helped better students as writers. Each piece of feedback received was meant to guide students and help them gain a better understanding of writing, as Professor Holt worked to help his students become better writers.

Professor Dan Holt was a decent guy but when it came to his teaching he really didn't care. I was supposed to Skype with him once because I couldn't find the classroom he was in for a meeting and he never got online. His response to e-mails if you had any questions were links- never gave direct help. I did better in my MSU writing class than his.

Great teacher!! Definitely one of my favorites which says a lot because I hate writing. He makes you work for the grade but it's not anything to hard to do as long as you participate from the beginning.

If you can't stand repetitiveness don't take this class. You do the same thing over, and over, and over again. He is a very tough grader and is not willing to help you get your grade up. I took this course as a hybrid. You have to pay very close attention to his directions or else you will fail, including the stuff in small font.

Warning: he does tell you at the beginning of the course to expect 12-14 hours of work per week...I didn't believe him and couldn't have dropped it anyway because I needed the credits. I felt the amount of work was completely unnecessary for it being a basic class you need to graduate. Be prepared to do a lot of work on your own.

Awful. I've taken 2 writing courses prior to this one that were great. Professor Holt demands mandatory attendance in a virtual world (SL) in which we spent the first 2 meetings ( 4 +hours) going over all the "fun" things you can do in the virtual world. The majority of our writing so far has been one word answers so he can be sure we're not asleep

I had a very tough time meeting all of his expectations in this class. Reaching the minimum requirements is not enough to get an A in his class, you need to go above and beyond and frankly I had other classes to worry about rather than devoting all of my time an energy in this class. It is also quiet inconvenient to be present for his SL class.

He is certainly a tough grader, and there is a lot of work to do before you write your essays, be prepared for a ton of work, and no slacking, you will not pass.

I should have read the reviews on him before taking his course. I took the online Writ 121 because I knew I would be on vacation. You still have to meet virtually with simulated characters in an online world at specified times! Too many peer-to-peer reviews. He was nice to me but I still would not take any class from him again.

Requires you to meet in a virtual class every wed at a certain time, get 0 if you dont attend. Also requires a lot of extra work outside of the normal online class. Warning: Do not take this class unless you have a LOT of time. Work load seemed a bit unbearable and totally goes against the point of having an online class.

PART 1! I took Prof. Holt for WRIT 122 for Fall 2014. Worst class of my life! First, this is a lecture class but ALL ASSIGNMENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS are done online. If you don't have access to a computer 247, do not take this class. I cant stress enough, this is one of main reasons why i am failing right now. In fact, some of the assignments were..

DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR! No matter how many times you ask him anything he won't help your or try to fix anything. It's supposed to be an online course but you have to be online at a certain time. He is terrible. Don't Make this mistake he doesn't answer any questions and takes points off for everything. He's terrible and should be a teacher.

He is without question the worst teacher I've ever had, in any school. He assigns tons of pointless busy work, requires regularly scheduled attendance in his online class, and doing an assignment gets you a grade of 70-80%, meaning you have to do EXTRA work just to get full credit. On top of all of that, he insults students regularly. STAY AWAY!
