Majority of these from 7+ years ago. This class was online, which I originally thought would be easy. Abs Not. The assignments are given in a lab-structured format, where you have to perform everything on your own. NO instruction from him whatsoever, not even videos. So I originally thought meetings lecture? NO. Practically your test. No feedback

Prof. Ludwigsen comes off as a very nice guy at first. Later in the term you will start to notice just how passive aggressive he is. He constantly makes snarky comments towards students if he thinks they should already know something. He does care about his students succeeding. DO THE READING & WORKBOOK PROBLEMS!!

I took him for theoretical mechanics which is a tough class from the start. First off, read the syllabus. Your grade is clear cut and he lets you know exactly what is expected of you. Lectures are in depth and reading before hand is required and helpful. Homework and oral exams are difficult. Visit office for help and he will definitely assist.

The guy seemed cool AT FIRST. Then it just went all downhill. Would ask, what we want to learn instead of actually teaching us. If you asked a question and he thought it was stupid, he would berate you for not knowing the answer. Not sure what is his deal, but definitely do not take for this class unless you can teach yourself.

If you've read the other ratings, keep in mind the posting date. after completing his Summer 2010 term, it seems as though he's lightened up. Still, it's true he treats his class a bit like a middle school "home room." Expect to hear a, "I'm just going to wait until I have everyones ears..." Ugh...

Has got to be the most unrealistic prof on the planet. Is not helpful at all during lab and grades as if you're a professional in the field. he needs to rethink the way he teaches in come live in the real world/.

Interesting class to say the least. Alot of work, however you will learn alot. Fair grader. Very helpful both in and out of class. Choose him if you have a choice- it will be worth it in the long run.

He makes you think and work for your grades and answers and in the long run, it is better for you. Most people do not like it, but I guess they will have to get over it because he is not changing his ways. I guess the word on Dan is you either love him or ya hate him. Personally, I like him.

Good Prof. Doesn't like laziness! Gives a lot of work but will help you get through it if you put an honest effort into it. Personality is nice and reasonable. If your really interested in learning something, this is the guy to take. Don't take him if looking for a blow-off class; HE EXPECTS YOU TO WORK... as with any other prof.

One of the worst profs I've ever had. He refuses to teach, instead asking the class to teach themselves. If you have a question, don't waste your time asking, he won't answer it, he'll ask the class what the answer is. Obviously doesn't realize what exactly his paycheck is for, because he doesn't do anything to earn it. Treats class like children.

Read before every class, quiz on reading during class, and active participation usually required. However bad that may seem, Ludwigsen gets students to think. VERY into teaching and "creating self-teachers." Bad part: does very few problems on board because he wants us to learn the theory and apply it to problems. Does curve sometimes.

It is not an easy class, but he is easily available for help if neccessary. Really seems to care about both students passing as well as understanding the material. If you do the work, the class isn't bad at all.

Great instructor. Always available to answer questions, requires you to learn the material, tough grader, but not unreasonable. If you are worried about your grade, talk to him early and he will let you know what is required of you if you don't understand after the first lecture (he goes over student's responsibilites first class).

Teaches class well, taken straight from Dr. Russell's class. Intesting class if you can stay focused. Difficult final.
