Comment:

Nice guy, not a great class. Lectures are difficult to follow as everything is done symbolically with little explanation. He's too proficient at the subject to understand that others can't always follow. Matlab code solutions are difficult to understand and not helpful. Optional HW. Quizzes & tests are simplified and doable, but be ready to work.

Comment:

Hardest class I've taken. Majority of his lectures are symbolic Most of his hw examples are in Matlab code. Went to office hours for help. helped a little but mainly printed off the code. Project was hard. However, TA was extremely helpful, and if you participate (TALK!) in class and turn in the hw, you may get a boost in your grade. nice guy

smart professor that teaches in a very systematic (monotonous) way, hw available but not required, answers posted via MATLAB code, not always generous with partial credit. Material not overly difficult but time consuming with room for error. 2 tests, quizzes (generally hinted at) and labs/lab project. Tests covered less material than he hinted at

Marghitu definitely cares. he is a pretty nice guy, but i really didn't enjoy his class. the subject isnt that hard, but the way he teaches makes it worse for me. He works symbolically to the very end. don't take if you dont like staring at symbols for 1.5 hours. Seemed like he simplified the tests a good bit. grade entirely from lab and exams.

Marghitu's lectures are very bad, be prepared to learn nothing and come away with more questions. He very poorly works examples and will not cover things he thinks are pre-requisites for his class. Tests aren't bad if you have studied the material on your own and can teach yourself.

He's is honestly one of the nicest professors I've ever had, but his teaching style didn't really work for me. I taught myself everything. He only posts homework solutions in MATLAB so be aware if you're not the best coder. You are no where near prepared for the project so make nice with others in the class and your TA.

Marghitu wasn't the most enthusiastic teacher in class but if you put the effort into the class you can come out with an ok grade. The lab takes up a lot of time so be ready to work for that.

Lectures are very clear, and tests are very straightforward based off of assigned optional homework. Optional homework may be completed for extra credit, so it is worth your time. He is extremely helpful during office hours. The project for this class will demand a lot of time, but the TA helps a lot if you're putting in enough effort.

Big Dan is the man! I recommend him to anyone taking MECH 2120. His lab project is pretty time consuming, but the class isn't bad at all. Cares about his students and the material.

Overall, he is very helpful in class when you ask questions, and he cares whether or not students understand the material. Do the homework as it is assigned. It is lengthy, but all the quizzes and exam problems are very similar. However, his final exam contained problems we have never worked before, causing many to drop an entire letter grade.

Statics and Dynamics with Dr. Marghitu isn't easy. You are going to have to work, but this man is an angel. I honestly deserved an F most likely but he gave me a C because I never gave up and kept trying. TAKE HIM, if you can

Dr. Marghitu is a very nice guy who wants his students to succeed. With this being said, he's not that great of a teacher. Much easier than others though. To do well, do the sample problems he posts on his website and you'll ace his quizzes and tests. I'd definitely recommend him over other Mechanical professors.

Dr Marghitu is a great guy! Really wants his students to do well. The class is hard, but he tries his best to make it understandable, light, and fun! Take him if possible! You won't regret it. He jokes around, and is very helpful. A bit of an accent, but nothing terrible. Great professor!

Had him for kinematics and MachineDes, kinematics is a little harder to follow, but he made MD super easy, though he doesn't do anything in class but cliffnote his own book(which you get to print out for free).Tests are sometimes easy, held a high A average throughout class then he killed us with the final. Though you do get his book during tests.

Dr. Marghitu is much better at teaching kinematics than statics. He works through examples during class and posts the solutions to homework so you know what you did right or wrong. You do have to use MATLAB for some of the homeworks and the lab project but it's not that bad. I recommend taking him for Kinematics and Dynamics.
