Honestly I didn't find the professor to be that bad because I know this type, show up to class and sit through it half asleep and you'll still pass. Don't show your opinion in any paper! If you ask a question don't involve your opinion! He will belittle you if your answer isn't what he wants. His essays are easy, I didn't read a single assigned pg.

Dan Sisson doesn't use canvas throughout the duration of his class. You won't know you're grade until you receive your final grade at the end of the quarter. He talks the entire period from the time class starts until it ends. I would highly recommend not taking this class if you can avoid it.

Comment:

Dan is one of the most self absorbed clowns at Eastern. Honestly I'm shocked they let him teach. Loves the sound of his own voice. Crams his own opinions down your throat and fails you if you don't agree. Regurgitate everything he says in class on your papers and it's an easy pass. Just don't expect to learn anything useful.

Extremely poor experience with this class. Dan would say he did something when he never did and hardly hands back assignments. He lectures nonstop but his essays rarely have anything to do with course material. Agree with him or fail is basically the classroom aura. Personally attacks many students as well and is very condescending and arrogant.

Avoid this instructor at all costs. He says that he doesn't receive your assignments, gives low grades without a reason, doesn't ever reply to your questions. Worst experience I've ever had !!!

Very easy course, literally requires no thought to pass. All you have to do is nod and agree with every ill conceived idea that comes out of his mouth. Honestly, it wasn't a good experience, I strongly recommend taking this course from one of the other professors offering it.

Extremely easy, but the teaching quality was very poor. As others have said, he expects you to think exactly like him. On the papers you write for the class, you will do great if you regurgitate everything he says in class - no original thought required. Chime in the discussions with everything he said the previous day to get on his good side.

Worse Teacher EVER. Useless comments on papers. Lowest grade i've ever received in a class because my opinion didnt match his. If you get a low grade you can't even appeal, participation is so big in class and he will mark you down if you voice your opinion against his.Terrible teacher. Do not take, you will regret. Hard to stay awake in class too

A teacher or a preacher? says he wants to give us an openminded view of the world because "people who stubbornly hold to their opinions are unenlightened". All i can say to that is look in the mirror sisson. class was hard to sit through but the work was easy. but don't put your own opinions on your papers or you wont get anything higher than a B

He's a very smart guy with a lot of knowledge that he tries to get across to every one of us in his class. He gives a lot of lectures, and most of his classes are of him talking. Everyday he starts off by saying, "Does anyone have any questions?" He wants us to know the material, so take notes and really listen to what he has to say.

More of a preacher than a teacher. Just rants about what he wants, but has nothing to say about the topic of the class. Very elitest. Will hack you down if he feels like it. Very immature and unethical. Some people never grow up, and he's definitly one of them. Very sad. Don't take a class with him.

When taking one of Sisson's classes, a person must understand that he was once a politician and thus speaks like one. Expect your opinions to be attacked from several angles and your questions to be answered in the most roundabout way you could imagine. He cares if you learn the material and is extremely helpful if you are willing to work with him.

Sit down and listen! Take notes and prepare yourself to write about today's hot issues.Do not shy away from talking to him, Dr.Sisson is more that happy to help out students who are trying. This class had really captivated my interest (which I did not expect at all). I really recommended this class, but only if you are ready to apply yourself.

Capstone on terrorism is an awesome class. Attendence is not really required but will help your grade, is fun, and saves research time on the one and only assignment due at the end of the quarter. Take this from Dr. Sisson if you want a interesting and EASY class.

I left his class several times feeling personally insulted. He doesn't listen to students, only manipulates what they say to fit his own thinking. He has a lot of knowledge, but is no where near inspiring to his students.

The actual material of the class is fascinating, but Sisson does a great job of making a History/PoliSci/Philosophy lover not ever want to study the subjects again. He only teaches the parts of each topic that help him construct his own pessimistic view of the world. He also has selective hearing; he never completely answers student questions.

READ THE TEXT!!! I'm gonna say it again, read the text. He is extremely long-winded and loves the sound of his own voice. This class was more about him spouting conspiracies about the U.S. government than anything else. Don't speak in class unless you agree with him or he will tear you to shreds by twisting your words around.

Professors shouldn't be permitted to comment on them selves. Definetily not a jewel and a pompus, arrogant, instructor that will spend more time freeking the class out because of what he hears on Air America Radio...well than teaching critical thinking. Glad I wasted my time, thanks.
