Comment:

I find he is an interesting professor and that his lectures are engaging and nice to listen to. However, I feel that his tests are unfair because he requires you to know every single detail in his lectures because it could be on the test. The tests aren't about memorizing the concepts but more so specific details.

Very intelligent, very good at what he does. I went in to his class thinking it would be easy (It was a pop music class) and that I would know it all. Not only did it surprise me but I learned a ton about the industry. The man knows his stuff. A sick prof who deserves to work somewhere else.

Dr. Downes is a world class prof, UNBSJ is lucky to have him. I've taken 4 courses with him and they are the ones I consistently show up for. He challenges students to go beyond the material and really learn something for themselves. He gives the impression that he generally believes students are capable of actually achieving something.

Downes seems extremely pretentious (?) and he kind of scares me with his long hair and scruff. He tries to scare you before you hand in any papers but I handed in a piece-of-crap paper and got an A- so he can't be that tough. He's funny though.
