Has high expectations. We had to read the entire book over the course of the semester but he didn't talk about it in class and only asked a handful of questions from the book on tests. He has to tests with 2 essay questions. His exam questions can get picky. As long as you back up your statements with logic and evidence, you'll be fine.

Before you take Kempton's classes, know that he is definitely not the easiest professor, but he is one of the most challenging and the through professors at NIU. He loves discussion and debate in classes but will make sure you have evidence to back up your arguments. Highly recommended!

I learned so much from this guy, he was great. Though some of the assignments are tedious (journals) and the exams are difficult, I still would do it all over again. You have to put in the effort but to me, it was worth it. Oh and he looks like Robin Williams circa 1989
