This professor was great and really interested in history. This class just had a TON of reading. He does get you excited about the topics. for this class, there were 10 point quizzes for each class and was just a random question each time. He made you work for a good grade. Would take him again though, good guy.

David teaches a history of Chicago course that I took because it sounded interesting. He gives wonderful lectures and will go out of his way if you participate! This class is simple to succeed in if you do the textbook readings and take notes during the lectures. For a history transfer credit, this class was perfect.

I took his class online so I can't speak for any in-class stuff. Our online class was amazing. Every week, you have to watch a 30 minute video and take a 10 question quiz on it. Then you have to take a 1 question written quiz on a primary document in the book or provided by the prof. Then post in a class discussion 4 times. No exams.

I took a summer class with him and it was great. There were so many opportunities to get extra credit and as long as you pay attention in class and do the readings, the quizzes and tests aren't that hard. I literally didn't write the essay which was worth 14% of my grade and still got an A off all the extra credit I got.

Heavy reading and you have about 3 days to get it done so DO NOT take any other classes with this one unless you dont have a job. We had to read 16-50 pages and watch an hours worth of videos then take a test on each, a quiz on the reading, and write 1000-1400 words total between 4 discussion responses. As a person with ADD this was impossible.

Will never take an online class with Groeninger again. Very slow responding to emails, and feedback is minimal. Took an online class so I could pace myself and I usually work ahead, but you can't do that with him. He has unrealistic time frames for getting work done and ridiculously short amount of time for the online tests.

He's a good professor and he does know what he is talking about. He connects the reading/ videos from homework to the inclass lectures. Expect to read and a quiz the next class, one paper, and 3 tests with easy questions. oh and he lets you use notes on all quizzes and essay test questions

Great Professor. One of my favorite teachers at CLC thus far. He is very knowledgable about subject. He is funny and makes his lectures interesting. Daily class quizzes-easy, one paper-easy, essay tests-easy. He is always available if you need help before tests. I love him and would take him again. You won't regret taking him.

He's a good teacher and seems like he know what he's talking about. But I wish your grade didn't mostly consist of the 10pt quizzes after each reading. If you miss a couple, you're probably already at a B or C. There's a lot of reading to do and it's overwhelming. Take notes of the readings, you're allowed to use that during the quizzes.

Dropping online class, because it is unreasonable. Only allows 14 minutes for a test that has 20-22 questions, & only 5 minutes for essay quizzes. Requires 4 posts to discussion board. Other online teachers I have had only required 2. All of that is repeated each week in the condensed version. I'm sure he's good in person, but no thanks for online.

Take this class if you want to feel like a teenage child in high school again. Not for adults, much less a community college. Good material, bad execution. Teacher has a problem with technology use (even if you use your iPad/laptop to record lectures and take notes). I happened to have an ebook and he got upset every time I pulled out my device

He is a fun history teacher and class is rarely boring. Requires a lot of reading, sometimes unclear about what he wants but overall nice and concerned with helping students understand the era of study while interpreting it through modern day eyes. Seems passionate about subject.

First Professor- I loved him! He was funny, smart, and very clear about assignments. He's a very big fan of discussion, so make sure you read your chapters and be ready to discuss with other students! If you read the book and come prepared, you'll have a blast.

Excellent teacher! Class was a mix of reading and videos as homework, then discussion. He didn't make us memorize a bunch of dates. Instead, we tried understanding the way people used to think and why they said and did the things they did. Before this class I thought history was dull as could be, but his class changed my mind.

Took class history of Chicago. Very good teacher. Assigned short readings every night, easy to get through. Required two non-textbook books for class, not as easy. Few papers (heavy editing, easy grading). Daily quizzes (easy). Essay style testing (easy). Extra credit field trip. Basically, if you do the reading, you pass. I recommend him.

Nice professor. Interesting teaching style. Focuses on primary sources and promotes class discussion. Does not claim to know all the answers to why things happened in history. Show up and read and you will have fun. The last unit about conservatism seemed to view conservatives in a negative light though which was the only part that I didn't like.
