I took this class two semesters ago and it was one of my favourites! Dr. Mumby was knowledgeable about the papers he assigned and made the material interesting. He was very sympathetic towards students and all around seemed like a bro. Class is easy if you read the papers ahead of time and attend. Simple as that.

I really love this guy. He knows his subject matter very well and is clearly passionate about it and make the class fun. His exams are indeed all short answers but really, if you study, you'll be fine. The additional papers were usually not very long, but yeah, we get tested on them. I have no problem recommending this prof to anyone.

He seems to know his stuff, but he can be confusing. The book was better than he was at explaining things. There were additional papers to read as well. Otherwise, he grades fairly but his tests are all short answers. Also sit close to the front because he doesn't speak loud at all. I have to admit he was really funny sometimes though

The class is extremely textbook-based, although he adds extra studies from articles that you must read because they are also tested on. His lectures are very boring and sometimes unclear, but he is funny to make up for it. He sometimes starts talking about a concept and does not finish what he has to say, which is very frustrating.

This prof is amazing. Strongly recommend psych students to take at least 1 course with him. The key to success is to attend every single lecture and take good notes since there is no textbook. Exams are fair and based on everything he says in class.

Ok I really liked this prof. At first I was scared because there are no power points, only articles. But you get used to it and if you go to class and take good notes, you will have no problem. His exams are fair throughout. He summarized the articles in class and can be downright hilarious. I really enjoyed this course. I recommend him strongly.

Dave Mumby is one of those professors that restores your passion for school when you feel overwhelmed. His teaching style is both engaging and dynamic. On top of being an extremely effective teacher he remains human and approachable in a way that very few do. Dr. Mumby embodies what it means to be an educator and not simply a university employee.

Literally the best thing you can do for your university career (and your life) is to take Dr. Mumby. He is by far the most caring, compassionate, HUMAN professor there is. He talks to you like an equal, and is fair and clear in how he grades you. Even more than that, he is an incredible lecturer - clear, engaging, funny, and just plain wonderful.

Really enjoyed the animal behaviour class with this prof, presented the material well. There were 2 in class tests and a final. All consisted of only long/short "essay" questions - which might seem scary but if you go to class, take notes and read the book you'll do fine. I didn't find studying stressful/boring at all because it was so interesting.

No textbook. Only articles (but short) and we discuss them in class. 3 exams (not really cumul.), only short answers tho. It might be confusing but you'll eventually learn how to study for it. "Learning" from an evolut. perspec. may not be for you, but you'll learn how to properly read and interpret articles for the rest of your academic life :):

Great teacher. He made me love a subject that I previously didn't like. His explanation are very clear. Simply take notes and test yourself few times and you'll get at least an easy an A- . He reviews material at beginning of each class. His lecture are like reading an article: structured and links well everything at the end of each class.
