Comment:

I've taken a lot of non major-related classes and I'd have to say this was the most enjoyable and Professor Thomas was the best instructor. He gave great feedback, was always available though phone and email, and really cared about his students and the subject. There is one short quiz per module and two VERY long exams but they were easy. 10/10

Comment:

Though the work for the class was not difficult, there was a LOT of it assigned every week, which was kind of a pain. Very tedious. Most of the quizzes would not be possible to complete with a decent grade without using other resources. All of the lectures are from the early 2000s, and that's the only time I ever saw him.

Comment:

I took this class as a blended course, and it was a lot more than what I bargained for. He had us read two chapters every week, along with quizzes on each chapter and other small homework things. I would only take this if you like geology. Also, I didn't talk to Dave too much, but I'm assuming he's alright.

Comment:

I really liked Prof Thomas. A couple investigation manual assignments, a quiz and an occasional discussion board/other assignment every week. Super easy group project. He is very accessible and always sends out a reminder with the schedule in the beginning of the week. Exams are long yet there are no surprises. Very understanding& a nice guy!

Great instructor who is serious and knowlegeable about subject. Interesting video lectures. Lab work is fun and creative. Tough and long tests. Lots of questions that are not easy. Must read the chapters to pass the quizes. Lots of time required weekly.

Very hard, not too much reason behing his grading, kinda just whatever he feels like is what you get.There are 4 exams durring the semester and they are IMPOSSIBLE! they dont have much to do with what he had been covering during the course.There also seemed like there were a lot of grading errors during the semester.Alright guy, not so good teacher

I am finishing up taking the online course... Not only is he horrible at at lecturing, but he makes it about the most boring subject possible. He knows his stuff I will give him that, however his teaching method is lacking completely. He needs to look into some teaching and/or some speech classes, very disjointed and random at times. HORRIBLE!

The class was weather... the teacher, sucked. One of the worst most unfair teachers i have ever had. Scantron messups, 3 questions, and he wouldnt even give me one. I battled for the top grade in the class with another student, Thomas said a curve would be added to final grades... i walked with a B- second highest grade. Highest was an 84%!!!!

I loved dave thomas! he has a true passion for what he is teaching, if you like geology or the outdoors at all you will love him. if you're taking his class just for your science credit you won't like the class. his classes are more real life than book like, i've taken them all! he loves the outdoors and will love you if you recycle!

He was an alright teacher. He's a bit of a nut, and his lectures didn't really correspond with the tests which seemed to comprise of random facts from the textbook. I only recommend him if you are really really interested in taking a Weather class.

I thought Mr. Thomas was a good teacher who knew his stuff. I DIDN'T think he was a jerk at all. If you went to class and took notes all tests were from the notes and the book. Some labs were longer than others but he would let you start ahead of time. I learned alot that I could use in "real" life.

He knows his material and loves what he does, but he doesnt know how to teach the material, and he doesnt know how to give advice. When asking a quesions he doesnt answer how you would like it to be answered. Don't take him at all possible!

I agree, Mr Thomas seems nice at first, but turns very critical and spastic. When he lectures, he constantly gets off subject, you have no idea what to take notes on. Tests do not follow what he attempts to teach in lecture. Many days he did not leave enough time to finish class assignment and we were constantly getting out late. I do not recomend

mr. thomas seems really nice at first, but twards the end of the semester he spazes out about everything and turns into a real big jerk. his test don't match up with lecture and it seem's like i didn't learn anything from that class.
