Summer 2018. Participation, discussion daily, short & long essay w/ two exams that require your taking good notes. Must review the lectures and readings to fully understand the philosophy and theories presented. Dr Allen is good and efficient at helping you to understand the ethics in journalism/media via lectures, which were structured well.

I had Allen for an Honors course and he was amazing. He was crystal clear about assignments and was always willing to provide help with papers. The readings were interesting and not so overwhelming that I could not get through them. Overall Allen is a really nice guy and a professor who values his students and the subjects that he teaches.

David is genuinely interested in the material he teaches, which is refreshing. Even though ethics can get a little dry, he brings up interesting case studies and encourages insight from the class. The papers and exams can seem a little intimidating but you're not expected to be an expert about media ethics, so grading is fairly lenient.

Really good professor. His lectures were a bit boring a times, but pretty informative nonetheless. He's really willing to help you out when you're confused and give you guidance. Decent grader, not too hard, but not ridiculously easy. I would definitely recommend taking any of his classes!

His online Media Ethics class is easy-without-being-a-total-joke. A lot of professors just kind of forget about their online courses once the semester gets underway, but Prof Allen was consistently invested and engaged, could tell he really cared.
