Comment:
Dr. Black is a very condescending and mean man. He will either like you or hate you and that determines how you do in his class. He is not open to other viewpoints so if you just say what he wants to hear you'll do fine. The class was called the pursuit of happiness but being in the presence of such a horrible human being made me very unhappy.

Comment:
Dr. Black will either like you or he doesn't. He holds a meeting with every student individually and I feel like he chooses whether or not he likes you right then and there. He grades papers way harder than they should be. He also will call you out and make you look like an absolute idiot if he finds you not paying attention in class.

He can come off as rude but if you participate and show him you actually want to learn he will treat you well. He's a tough grader but if you actually try to learn you can get a lot out of this class. Don't skip or be rude in any way or you'll be yelled at in front of the class.

no quizzes or tests, mostly just readings, discussions, and papers. not the easiest class i've ever taken, but i learned a lot from him! He is very willing to help you and is accommodating with meeting you if you can't go during office hours. you'll also have to give speeches, but he is fair grader overall. Go see him outside of class!!

Dr. Black is very enthusiastic and makes class interesting but he is a pompous jerk who makes you feel like an idiot. Going to see him during office hours was one of the worst mistakes I've ever made. He'll attack you personally and feel no remorse afterwards. He's inhumane. Class is easy though... just take notes and pay attention

Nothing like getting called stupid in front of the entire class. Got a good grade and all, but was glad I didn't have to visit his office after that incident.

I have finally found a time machine! Sadly I can only go back to one time. The entrance to the time machine is under the lintel of David Black's classroom. Once you enter, you are immediately thrown into 1960's Cuba for 50-53 minutes. Other than that, it's not too hard to write a paper using David Black's exact words and receive a good grade.

He's a good prof and you'll do well as long as you're willing to take the work seriously. Go see him about your papers: if he sees your effort he's more likely to give you a better grade. He's very opinionated and gets pissed off if you dont participate. You learn alot of good stuff though, take him!

He is a great professor. No tests or quizzes just 2 presentations, about 5 papers and 2 mandatory meetings with him. He is not a hard grader if you get most of the information into your papers. He has office hours where you can bring your paper and he will discuss it with you and give some pointers which are very helpful.

Dr. Black is great in class, and will help you if you ask him, but he seems a bit bitter sometimes in office hours. I did well and he liked me, but there were times in his office were he was a little rude. Not the easiest for Ethics, Granahan and Rowe easier

Prof. Black is the man, he may brush a lot of people the wrong way, he can come off slightly arrogant, but he's a truly great professor, if only more professors were like him. This isn't the easiest class, but you will learn more out of it than any other you take in college. He says what needs to be said, you may or may not like that :)

This is a teacher you have to take! At first he was annoying, intense and very opinionated. During the course of the semester his points and references became crystal clear and really made you think about ethics in a way I never thought possible. As far as grades go, participate, ask for help with tests and he will tell you everything. Not an easy A

Fun guy, fair grader. Show some interest and effort, and you're fine. It's not a class for the average slacking off student just in it to fill a requirement-that just won't cut it.

An AMAZING teacher. But not for everyone. If you hate applying yourself, forget it. Listen in class, read the material and just think and you'll get an A. The grade doesn't even matter compared to what you learn in this class. But if you're a lazy crap who doesn't think about life, not for you.
