Comment:

Just go to class! He is one of the rare professors who teaches one concept and then goes over multiple, slightly different examples to really grind the idea in. Tough, yes, because your only grades are tests, but if you do the (optional) homework, you'll find that he pulls every test question directly off the homework. He's also funny sometimes.

Comment:

Mr. Burns explains his problems well, but almost too much. He likes to talk a lot. The grade is made up of 4 tests and that's it. Each test only has 12 questions so if you get one wrong your grade on that test goes down a lot. No extra credit. He gives you homework but it's not mandatory or graded. I think you need to go to class to pass.

I would not recommend him to anyone. I went to every class and did every homework but his tests are really hard. The only grades in the class are four tests and the review is a lot easier than the tests. He marks off points for you doing the work different then what he wants even if you get a correct answer.

The only grades you have for this class are the exam grades. You get four. If you participate in class and ask questions you should be fine. He is super easy going but do the homework he recommends, even though its not graded, ive seen some of the exact homework problems on the test.

I did not understand his method of teaching. The way he taught it made the content seem 10 times harder than it should have been. I went to the tutoring center and understood it better there. You definitely have to have a solid background to pass and be ready to teach yourself from the book. The book is needed to pass.

Super slow talker, does not clarify- always took the roundabout way in solving problems. Would not answer questions clearly. Monotone boring voice, made me want to fall asleep. Do not take him.

Class is not mandatory so every time I went to class there was only 6 people there. The class is easy but your grade is only based on 4 exams. I should've taken the class more seriously with keeping up with the hw (even though he doesn't collect it) but it's good practice

He bases your grade on 4 tests, and you get no extra credit if you come to class every day or ask for it. I went to office hours, and stayed after class and he always asks "is that okay their buddy" to move on to the next problem. I would not recommend this teacher.

He is a great professor who truly cares about his students. Calculus can be a bit boring, but if you want to do well you WILL. Test questions come straight from homework. He was willing to work around my schedule to help. Great guy

Before I took his class, the highest grade I ever got in any math class was a c. (i got an A in his class) He is very helpful if you simply ask questions. do the homework and ask questions and you should have no trouble passing this class.

Mr Burns by far is the best math teacher I have ever had. He made very difficult problems seem very easy. He is more than willing to help out whenever you ask. He has a very strong, loud, and seem like a Grandfather voice to me, but he knows his stuff and simplifies it. Homework not mandatory. Only 4 test. Take if possible!! Very good teacher!!

Professor Burns is a little quirky but is generally interested in helping the students. He really helped me understand math. He sounds like he is reading off of a teleprompter and it makes the class interesting. I would recommend him as a professor.

Mr. Burns is by far the best teacher I have ever had. 110 was most definitely a review for me, but from what I could see, if you were learning it for the first time, or perhaps forgot what you learned, he explains it perfectly. Real nice guy, horrible come over, and gimps like he has no foot, but a great teacher, take him!

Smart man, teaches in a round about way and goes really far into detail into explaining exactly why things work the way they do which tends to bore some people and throw some others off. VERY particular on the way you do things on your test. Good guy, just take someone else.

Only grades 4 test which each have 12 questions worth around 9 points each. If you get the final answer wrong to each question, he automatically takes half credit off the question. Doesn't give extra credit. Assigns homework but doesn't make you turn it in. Hard class to attend because the class is boring and he doesn't take attendance anyway.

He had his moments of being funny, in his own way. Attendence is not required so its hard to go to this class if you hate math, and there is only 4 grades, no homework graded, no quizes, just 4 tests. and you can not, for any reason miss a test day, you will not be able to make it up. Over all he is a good teacher and very helpful.

This professor is terrible. He doesn't explain things, he doesn't give a darn about you or your grade, and he is annoying to listen to. He doesn't use blackboard so you don't know your standing. And, if you missed the day you are supposed to get your exam back, you don't get it back so you can't go over what you did wrong!

Wow, Mr. Burns seems to be a very difficult teacher at first,but he is VERY good.If you dont study, FAIL. Despite having the worst comb-over in recorded history, he is very serious. Tests are hard, but he will dedicate whatever time necessary to make sure you are ready. Im taking MA115 now and he did such a good job, it makes 115 review.VERY GOOD!!

Overally good teacher, only 3 tests and a final exam for the class. Exams are easy and relatively short, just go to class, and DO THE HOMEWORK because thats where all the test questions come from, he does examples on the board, and goes over homework at the beginning of each class, and has a review day before exams and tells you whats on the exam
