He's super straightforward and really helpful. His demos make things look easy but he tells you that it's not, and that you have to spend way more time on yours. Students say he's mean but really he's not. He just wants you to make it.

Mr. Lee was a laid back instructor. He's ready to help anytime. He gave clear demonstrations and allowed the students to take pictures of his demo (consider it as taking notes). You may always improve your works even it's already graded, and he will increase your grade (unless it's the end of the semester).

David was the first teacher I had when entered the Academy in 2009 and he immediately made me understand what the next four years were going to be about. I've never had any interest in drawing, but he made me focus and achieve results I never believed were possible. If you want to get serious about this school, get him asap. Amazing teacher.

Even with his accent, David's demos are always crystal clear and idiot-proof. I improved so much in his class, and am so grateful. Just make sure you do your part and put in real effort, teachers can only do so much - the rest is up to you. Very highly recommended.

He is a little bit deceiving he seem s like a cool laid back guy but then when it comes to grading he is really tough and expects you to be at a master level. Also he plays favorites, he will give people that can draw better grades, interact with them more, and help them out more. He is not one of those teachers that will go around the class and look at everybody's work and help them improve, actually most of the time in my class I don't even think he was in the room.

David Lee is a great teacher. Just make sure you pay A LOT of attention to get the idear(he can't say idea right). Even with his accent, he is understandable and comprehensible. He will help you boost your level of skill even if you have never drawn in charcoal before. I can only judge him based on Analysis of Form. Great teacher, work hard.

I had him for both Analysis of Form and Figure Drawing 1 and he is definitely one of the best and coolest teachers at the academy. He has an accent that makes him hard to understand at times but he is really helpful and tells you how it is. Like someone said before, take him your 1st semester if you can because he really gets you prepared.

I have him for figure drawing. He's an amazing artist, but I can't say that he's very helpful in class. My other teachers will go around and tell students what needs fixing in their work, but David goes around and only comments if the drawing looks good. I was hoping for more from the class as it's an extremely important class!

If you are a first year student, do everything you can to take his class first! You will learn what is expected from you for your reminding 4 yrs in the academy. He is a brilliant artist and knows what he is talking about. No bullsh#t type of guy, tells you what sucks and why. I learned a great deal from him.

Rude, toxic and harsh attitude. Criticizes with such terms as "this is s**t" and "you're a f***up". Practices favoritism, picks on certain students, hard to understand, malicious and on a massive ego-trip. Yes, he is a good artist. Students with disabilities watch out! Your disability will made you a bigger target! File a grievance against this man

DLC is a fun guy, and he knows his stuff in and out. However, his clarity suffers from English clearly being his second language, and the heavy usage of casual swearing. He is a tough grader, but he does it because in the real world, the customers and clients will be tough graders.

one of the hardest teachers in the AAU. He's not helpful at all, always bragging about his work, and how's he the best artist in the world. really isn't interested in teaching. doesn't know english well, that makes his "lectures" completely useless, if not painfull. He's good artist, but he THE WORST TEACHER.
