Amazing professor. And hes a wicked cutie. But mostly, hes funny, relaxed, you will learn a lot. His tests are 5 paragraph essays though, which gets tiring, but he grading is really fair. Try not to skip classes, you may miss a lot.

He rekindled my love for literature, and there's no way I would have as much understanding about the novels he taught without this class. Part of me wanted to change majors and spend the rest of my days studying great writers, the class was that good. If you have a chance to take a class with him, please do it. You're in for a treat.

Downey is a very cool guy. He has good insight into the books for class and can relate them to the real world. Not too much work either. Just a few essays for the semester that he grades fairly. Didn't mind going to this class. He kind of resembles Patrick Dempsey which is a bonus.

I went into this class with a terrible sense of pulling random crap out of short stories especially. He tried to help me overcome this, with only moderate success. Not his fault though. He really tries to help students and relate to them. If you are respectful to him (no eating, on time) you will do well and thrive. Very opinionated, but good
