Comment:
Very small minded- only really accepting of his style of writing and not good at helping direct where your paper should go; simply repeats "needs more focus". Does not have a good sense of humor or enjoyment for his career. A lot of negative energy which is particularly bad for how dry this kind of writing is

I took this class because I didn't get a 5 on my AP Lit exam. There was only one section that fit in my schedule (Eilers). I read reviews on him and just thought those who took his class were unintelligent- I got into a few Ivy's- yet, nothing I wrote pleased this man. He grades too harsh and takes "English" too seriously

A nice guy, but a very hard grader! He makes an honest effort to try to help you out, but sometimes dodges your questions or isn't very clear about what he wants. His handwriting is usually illegible, unfortunately, and his paper topics are difficult to find interest in.

Worst teacher I have ever had. His lectures are useless and he is probably the most cold and unpassionate person I have ever met. Avoid this class at all costs!

He is very close minded. Do not take this class if you actually enjoy english because he will make you hate it. Going to class is useless because he goes over the same things over and over again. His feedback does not help you at all. He pretty much has to write it for you if you want to receive an A. I do not think he actually gives out A's.

I used to love English, yet Eilers destroyed any positive feeling I previously had for the subject. He grades really harshly, and then even if you do what he advises for the next paper, you still do poorly. His directions are vague and really have no correlation to the grade you receive. Do not take this class if you want to preserve your GPA.

Mr. Eilers made me work for my grade. I had to think again and again how to phrase my thoughts & apply his favorite word of "FOCUS". He forces you to THINK BEFORE you dare turn in that paper you swear is quality work! Be prepared for his illegibly written criticism but if give him honest effort, overall he surprisingly isn't that bad.

His lectures are very haphazardly thrown together and not very helpful at all. He does write a lot of feedback on papers, though his handwriting is atrocious. The topics were not insightful or interesting, but if you can latch on to the style of writing he's expecting, you'll get a good grade. Otherwise, you'll receive a lot of useless corrections.

He's one of the worst english teachers i've ever had. I thought i could write, got all a's and b's in my previous writing class, but then he's given all d's on my papers. You can't read his hand writing and he tell you how to fix your paper, so you fix it but guess what, it's still wrong. he's close minded to only his style of writing.

Mr. Eilers is the most useless professor at NCSU. If you don't go fully in depth with every word of every paper you write then he will fail you. When you ask him for help he wont answer your question but instead asks you another question. This man is a horrible professor. Avoid him.

RUN AWAY! He is the worst professor I've EVER HAD. He grades horribly and he doesn't care about ruining your GPA. His hobbies include tearing down students thoughts and opinions, handing out F's on papers, and telling you that if you don't go to graduate school for 15 years after a four year degree, that you will fail at life and never get a job.

He gives boring topics, and expects a lot of depth in your explanations. You will never want to hear the word "Focus" again when you get done with his class. He grade really hard, and the class is extremely boring. If you are not good at writing, DO NOT take his class. His clarity is horrible, and he is not very helpful.

He's a very nice man but sometimes unclear on what he expects out of papers. His comments on papers are completely useless, if you can read what he is written, its still hard to understand what he is trying to say.

He is really laid back and he is very nice. However he is not very clear in his feedback on papers and gives no advice on how to improve. Paper topics were tough.
