One of my favorite professors at ncf. Usual lecture style, which can be boring, but you can ask questions during lecture, which can make it interesting. Fairly easy grading, but coming to class is essential and mandatory. Got to know him well and he is a nice guy, but if he doesn't care about what you are saying, he becomes awkward and quiet.

Harvey has been the best professor throughout my time at NCF. Clear, devoted, intelligent...but sometimes a bit awkward. Despite that one flaw, great man.

Great professor! He's really sweet and makes the class accessible, even to students with little to no history background. He made the class interesting, and though it was very reading heavy, it was an enjoyable experience.

Harvey is a wonderful professor. He might be one of the smartest people ever. He is approachable and funny if somewhat... odd (in an Asperger's kind of way). He speaks a number of languages and knows the strangest little details.

So far I love this class. It has been my fave at NCF. He is very passionate, which is always a great thing. A bit loony, but loony is good. I'm goign to take as many classes as possible with him

Harvey is an excellent lecturer and very knowledgeable about topics outside the lecture range, although open about admitting if he doesn't know the answer. I wish he wouldn't have students lead discussions, only because I think we all try to be smart and just end up sort of incomprehensible. Lots of reading for his classes, some of it very dry.

While the lectures may be dry and the "ums" too many to count (believe me I tried), you are gauranteed to pass the exam if you take the mind-numbing notes. He will not test you on anything not in your notes! Just make sure that they're accurate!

Not a very encouraging experience. Uninteresting experience, didn't walk away with much of a knowledge base. Has some tall shoes to fill and wasn't ready for alot of the responsibilities assigned.

Dr. Harvey is devoted to his students. Also, he makes hundreds of french fries in just minutes. He is more absorbant than the leading brand. He single-handedly defeated the Wehrmacht in 1945. [Other good things]

Harvey will admit when a topic is outside his field, which gives the appearance of incompetence, but he is actually very knowledgeable. He is friendly and helpful though a little stilted in lecture. The class is what you make of it.

Comment:
Dr. Harvey is a brilliant man, and an excellent writer, and perhaps the world's foremost American scholar on Alsace-Lorraine. Unfortunately Europe is much bigger than Alsace-Lorraine, and the size of his subject seems to weigh him down sometimes, as do the size of his classes.
