This is definitely Dr. Hutchens' favorite class to teach. He is much more enthusiastic than in other classes. Tests are fairly difficult, but a large portion of your grade comes from a semester long group project. Although this was probably my favorite project of the whole major as it is a great learning experience. No textbook.

You can get a lot out of this class if you work hard. Dr. Hutchens was not as bad as when I had him before as he actually seems to enjoy teaching this class. However, still be careful as his tests are still quite difficult and you have one group project over the course of the whole class that makes up a large portion of your grade.

Extremely tough grader despite the fact that his exams have a bunch of random content from the chapters covered in class. Very rude to students whenever a question is asked. Doesn't seem to enjoy teaching. Gave such a bad experience that it has me contemplating transferring to another school with better professors in the department.

Garbage. Tests are extremely tough, rough grader. Intimidating since he makes you look dumb if you ask questions. Would put you to sleep unless you are extremely knowledgeable and interested in the topic. Would not recommend without having previous knowledge on subject. You will learn more by reading on your own than attending his boring lectures.

Dr. Hutchens is the kind of guy who can put you to sleep talking about your favorite subject. He is very unenthusiastic and will lecture for 2 hours straight. Although he isn't mean like the ratings say, his attitude seems to discourage any student involvement. However, he is a lot more fair than people give him credit for, especially with grading.

He's not mean, but he does talk down to everyone. He tends to make fun of you discretely and grades extremely hard. Never wants to give help, and the help he gives is usually the same thing he said during lecture.

i failed compsci161 with liffick and took it again with this guy and it was much easier and a little bit more interesting. his teaching style is writing on the board and you taking notes. his tests are fairly easy, word bank definitions, T/F statements, and usually about 8 short answer programs. and yes, he has a bad case of superiority complex.

Amazing professor. Uninspiring person. Though his superiority complex sucks, when he is feeling "human" and down to earth he is a great guy. He will teach you like no one else in the CS department at MU. Take him if you want to learn, not just pass a class. He is hard but extremely fair if you follow his standards.

Perhaps the most pompous and self-aggrandizing professor at Millersville. Completely uninterested in teaching, and more interested in he own glorious past as the world's greatest software engineer or whatever he was. I learned more about the inner workings of a CPU from reading on my own from his class.
