If you think this is an easy science GLER you are mistaken. Dont take this class if you dont have a mathematical background or major. The exams were very difficult and the assignments were brutal. David has a hard time breaking concepts down for students to understand. Hardest uni class Ive taken.

Often spends too much time explaining how to derive formulas rather than how to use them. Doesn't post notes online so you need to go to class! Also doesn't allow use of a calculator. Nice prof overall and does a good job keeping lectures interesting! Short exams but make sure to study off his "practice exams", they are VERY similar to the exams.

He is a really great person. But as a prof his lectures can tend to wonder away from the main concepts and can be quiet confusing at times. much of the class was a review from math 30-1 (which I found very simple) but the way he explained made it much more confusing then it needed to be. Class average on the last test was 35%. Good luck

You need to do the work outside of class. Moves very quickly through lectures. Requires attempting a lot of practice problems on your own. Definitely use the textbook. Tests are hard but he marks fairly.

He speaks math theorem, which wasn't my first language making it difficult to understand. He is helpful and nice, but did not provide many worked through problems before testsassignments. I have never gotten below 88% in a math based course until now. Doing many practice problems yourself and reading the textbook is "vital" to getting grades.

If you want a teacher who knows the material like the back of his hand Kaminski is the right prof. That being said his classes can be difficult, he focuses on developing a good fundamental understanding of the material and then goes over how to apply it to various situations as opposed to memorizing different formulas and identities.

I took Differential Equations I and Calculus IV with him at the same time. My only complaint was that he wrote notes very fast. He has a great sense of humour, and if you go to his office hours, he was definitely helpful. He posted solutions to everything and his exams were extremely fair. He was one of my favorite math profs. Just work hard!

History of Math. A lot of work (there literally is something due every week) but no final exam!!!!!!!! Was a very interesting course and was fair for the most part (he did kill everyone on the second midterm). Overall a good elective and a lot of fun. Very personable guy and easy to talk to.

Great guy, great teacher. Moves very fast so you need to go to class and take frantic notes but that's a given for math. Keeps you interested and having a outgoing and wellspoken prof is always refreshing. Hard assignments though, man. I enjoyed him a lot and I'd recommend him just don't slack! Ever!

Overall, good prof. He explained things clearly and makes the topic as interesting as possible. If you do not like writing papers, do not take geometry with him as there are 4 short papers and a long essay at the end in this course, all of which add up to 45% of the mark. However, if you are okay with the research aspect, it is a good course.

He is a good teacher and explain concepts logically and clearly. He does a move a little quick sometimes. He is a hard marker. I like the papers in the class because I feel like I understand the concepts I'm researching and its something different.

Kaminski is an excellent prof. His assignments are a tad tricky, but his tests are generally fairly straight forward if you are well prepared. He is also very helpful if you ask him questions during office hours. Overall, he is a extremely intelligent man.

HISTORY OF MATH. maybe it was my fault for thinking it would be an easy elective, but he def didn't make it easy for the non-math majors even though in the beginning he said you don't need to be one to do well! assignments were tough but exams were pretty fair. just study lots, and make sure he likes you! very tough marker :( why kaminski why

I have heard that Calc 4 is supposed to be much easier than Calc 3 and I am going to be lucky if I pass this class. Kaminski is an awful prof. He explains the concepts fairly well in class but his assignments are so hard and his tests are even harder. Only take a class with him if you absolutely have to.

I found David to be a good prof, someone I could actually sit and listen to. Exams were fairly written (he gives out practice exams before and they are basically the same outline). Must attend class to follow along and not get lost!

I attempted to take as many classes from Kaminski as possible during my undergrad. He is extremely knowledgeable in the field of mathematics and you can really tell it is his passion. His exams have a reputation for being difficult, but if you keep on top of the material you will do fine. If you care more about knowledge than marks he is your guy!

This prof is nice, but once we got past reviewing high school stuff everything just became a big blur. When he wrote examples on the board he wrote super fast, and it was hard to follow him. Once you get a little behind you are screwed. I ended up withdrawing the class knowing I was too lost to ever catch up again!

Kaminski has extensive knowledge of mathematical proofs, however his exams did not test what he lectured about in class. His theories and proofs were never demonstrated with practical applications and he was more interested in discussing theorist's heritage than math equations. I found him and his teaching style complicated and often irrelevant.

David definitely knows his stuff when it comes to Math, however expect a challenge. The exams aren't too difficult if you keep up. Make sure you do all the homework and attend the tutorials since sometimes it can be hard to keep up in lecture. He does teach some higher level stuff, but his grade scale compensates for the difficulty of the class.
