Great prof, he knows his material and will reply to an email within an hour (in my experience at least). He grades fairly and the workload isn't all that bad. My complaint would be that he wants you to come up with your own essay questions, but you learn to adapt quickly. If you know how to write a good essay, you'll ace this class

The prof is okay, I am in Education first year and majoring in English. I have always loved English but he makes me hate it. He doesn't make it exciting or thought provoking, he just gives you the answer or doesn't talk about things enough. Rushes through things, he has his good days.

The professor co-taught with Lisa Vargo and I thoroughly enjoyed the discussions regarding the narratives we had to read. If you want to learn more about what you're reading, take this class. It is not a hard class. Read, go to class, participate and you will do fine. Very helpful and engaging!

Lectures were non-interactive dictatations of his opinions about what the selected passages meant. tests and essay were fair. He is freakishly fast at replying and offers really helpful tips and solutions. I wouldnt take a class from him again because I want to major in english and this was my least favourite class. His style was not stimulating.

This class is horrible with Dr. Parkinson. As a student who has already wrote many university papers, I find he expects far too much from his students. The assigned books would be alright, if you weren't taking any other classes. Joined his class from the rating on here, DON'T DO IT!Confusing and too old fashioned take ENG with Morelli, Marken..

I registered here specifically so I could vote for Prof. Parkinson. He's probably my favorite professor I've ever had. You'll absolutely need to go to class to do well, but he knew so much about the material and spoke so well, it was probably my favorite part of the day to just be there. His tests and essays are fair, and he's always very helpful.

I am not an english fan but I loved his class. His essays are fair and he gives you opportunities to fix your mistakes and up your mark. Final exam was straight forward. He is extremely helpful and approachable and answers emails promptly. If I have to take another english class I would make sure it was with him as prof.

Great first year class! Essay topics are fair, and he gives at least a month between each essay. He also explains all of his assignments VERY well so that you will understand what is expected! Helps after class and answers emails promptly! AWESOME PROF!

Difficult class, but I have a strong affection for this professor. He is extremely intelligent, subtle, and honest. He got frustrated with our class, and I don't blame him. Most students act like idiots these days, wanting to be spoon-fed.

David is the best English prof. If you don't get the poems, he makes sure you understand it before he moves onto anything else. The class moves at a nice slow pace so there's no big literature list that you'd find in other English classes. If you want good grades in English take this class. I suck at English and I'm getting 85's and 90's on essays!

Medieval Drama. Any Prof who can make me want to get up and study religious plays at 8:30 in the morning must be doing something right. Cares about his students, marks fairly, neat handwriting, great prof all around. Would highly recommend him for any class.

I have yet to meet a professor with Parkinson's enthusiasm. Despite the fact that I am usually quiet in class, I found myself itching to join in the conversation. He made his class interactive and enjoyable. He even brought us treats one day. He challenges his students to think in new ways. I really liked his class.
