Comment:
This was a super interesting class. Rather than focusing on economic theory, Scoones taught bits of theory by applying them to real-world events. This was the most paper-heavy economics course I have taken, but it was graded on the quality of analysis, not on writing ability. All in all, I would highly recommend this class.

Comment:
This prof is eccentric and funny, but is a great all around teacher. The classes are well structured, and you should be able to improve writing skills (at least if you are in Econ 321). Also, he seemed to be rather good at assigning the right amount of readings and assignments as the term progressed.

Scoones is a hilarious prof. Some of the material is a little dry but he does a good job of making it interesting. His slides are very detailed so going to class is not manditory but I would recommend it. Not an easy class but if you pay attention in class and do the readings you will be fine.

The subject matter is interesting but you could learn it just be studying the notes. Mixed strategy is the hardest concept to get, but after that it is easy. Scoones tries hard and means well but he is better at theorizing then teaching

Prof Scoones uses great examples to make Game Theory clear. No previous knowledge of economics is necessary. He reminds me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, but with the capacity for empathy.

Great prof, hilarious and engaging. No real point in going to class but he makes you want to attend because he is entertaining. Pretty difficult material for a first year econ course but Scoones is flexible in his marking schemes and wants his students to do well.

Class mark consists of 2 midterms (25% each) and a final (50%). This is a very easy class, all you need to do is attend the lectures and read the notes he posts. Everything you need is in those notes, you don't need to take your own or look at the text book. The labs/tutorials are optional, and you have chances to get bonus marks.

Posts all of the lecture notes online, yet are not useful for studying. The textbook for this class is well written and will easily carry you through the tests. MC questions in this class are killer, with a ton of word games to screw you up. The prof is a nice guy but has a tendency to ramble on and makes it easy to miss class without consequence.

Very personable and knows his stuff. Yes, Dr. S****es likes to talk, but if you're interested in economics this is a bonus; his topics are always current and interesting. This particular course demands advanced writing and analysis skills. Be prepared to work hard for a true sense of accomplishment.

This was a stupid hard course for a first year course with NO prereq's! David did not understand that at all and taught things at far too high a level. Then would not give us the answers for the exercises in the textbook - that was unacceptable.

This teacher has a very abstract way of conveying a mesage....Needs to learn how to teach instea of blabber on about useless nonsense. I strongly recommend finding another Prof. for this course.
