Comment:
Lectures are long and boring, he will not hold your attention. He just put fragments of code on the overhead. His course notes are absolute gold though. Everything you need to know for the labs and assignments will be in there. Midterm and final was particularly easy in my opinion. Assignments were short. Some labs were a bit tricky though.

I don't find him helpful at all because he is not that friendly with students and I find his explaining pattern very blur. If you are taking programming course for the second time I your life like please I recommend you not take from him. The exam are marked by him and it is awful. During the class he will always joke around about engineers.

I didn't find him that helpful. I had never taken a java course before i had python in my previous semester. He just goes through the code written on his piece of paper which doesn't really help if you have no background with java. Evening when asking for his help during his office hours, you should not expect much from him. I would avoid him.

Comes to class well prepared which inspires trust and confidence. The workload is reasonable and the course isn't hard for CS students. An easy A if you're the studious type, or a B if you do minimal work. But you should study and talk to him because he's a goldmine of CS knowledge and he's willing to pass it you if you ask.

It's crystal clear what is expected of you in this class, so much so that it does get a bit tedious at times. If students were having trouble with an assignment, he would go over the solution in class. He can be boring at times but his humor is great and he taught his class very well. The textbook is one of the most useful ones I have ever bought.

He is a good prof. his lectures are very clear and specific. He also sometimes talks about other things in class that motivates you like the job market and about all the other courses.. overall a very good prof.

I wish this professor taught more courses. He can teach anything well and thoroughly. He makes assignments easier, when he realizes the students are struggling. He does take time in the lecture to put things into historical context. Overall, this professor teaches very well, and adjusts the level of difficulty appropriately

Slightly slow, can be a tad tedious. However, the information he delivers is organized and relevant. I had no problem following his lectures. He also made his own textbook / notes which are very well thought out. Overall, I can appreciate this prof and how he teaches. How exciting can intro comp sci be anyway?

His classes are so boring! But he does take the time to go over everything a dozen times. You could go to his class once a week, and not miss anything. His forum is unhelpful as he constantly closes students threads for asking questions. average, but not great.

A very cranky old man. He gives off the vibe that he hates his job and it shows. As others have already noted he is extremely dull. Really, you would probably learn more by just reading his slides rather than going to class. Very dull, very unhelpful, makes you dread his classes. Avoid classes with him as a prof if possible!

Very clear note pakage, definitely worth buying! His classes are a little boring, but he goes everything so slowly so that even those who are not good at comp sci can comprehend. Lots of help outside of class, but don't both asking him to look at code. He won't do it.

He was easy, but by far one of the most boring professors. I stopped going to class by the end of it. The same examples, all year. If you did anything different in the assignments, or he was unclear on a test, you wouldn't get the marks you should. I'll stay in engineering, thank you. (Final exam was a piece of cake though)

I was unimpressed with him in 102, but he made software engineering a little more interesting and the workload / exams were fair. Teaches from an idealist academic point of view, unfortunately.

Sat in on his lectures a few times for this class. ...I think I fell asleep every time. Very boring, and drones on and on about everything. However, if you don't know what you're doing, he teaches everything well. Just be prepared to fall asleep.

A definition of monotonous worthy of Webster's. I love computer science, but this guy sure ain't helping. He should pick up the pace in class; we're reading the notes WAY ahead of you, and you're not adding much to them.
