Comment:
His bow tie and appealing professor attire kept me alive the first 5 days. However, due to his use of only drawings in class discussions, the unfair comparison of our exams and 12 page paper to other students, and the amount of reading he assigns, I have lost the ability to stomach his presence. Go to your attic & each fudge brownies Bow tie man!

Dr. Speak is one of the most interesting professors that I've had. His lectures can be difficult to understand at first, but stick with him and write it all down because it all comes together in the end! He only grades 3 things, a midterm, final, and a paper, plus he takes attendance.

Be prepared to do a lot of reading (pop quizzes when he feels the class is not reading). Besides this, his lectures make no sense. He goes off on tangents that never connect to the material. He only grades exams and the essay. He expects 30 pg. papers! There are very difficult assignments which are graded hard! A hard professor! Do not take!

Dr. Speak is one of those professors who is a hard graders, but his lectures are entertaining and I learned so much from him this quarter. I'm even thinking of changing my major to PLS because of him.

Extremely confusing and when you need more understanding and email him he makes you feel dumb. He grades difficult and only has three things he uses to grade you on so if you mess up you will likely have to retake the class. One of the worst teachers I have had. He does not use power point or whiteboard other than pics so good luck taking notes.

If you have not taken any intro to Constitutional Law classes, get ready to work extra hard in this class. He only grades three items.. THREE!! So you have little room for error. Plus those three assignments are the most difficult assignments I have ever done. He knows his stuff but the format of his class is not the best for students to succeed.

Took Professor Speak for Political Philosophy class. Speak is very good at explaining the material, he rarely writes on the board however and prefers to have discussions instead with the class. He is very knowlegable of the material and is a fair grader. If you liked philosophy classes or ethics classes this should be fun for you in this class.

Dr. Speak is by far the best professor I had at Cal Poly. Extremely intelligent, great teaching strategies, challenging, personally and academically supportive.
