Comment:

His teaching style was not my learning style. If you are looking for "any" Science requirement, this prof is not for you. His tests are hard and 10 pgs long. Be prepared to memorize everything from start to finish because you never know what will be on the test. I'm an honour student and I barely passed.Should've taken it with the other prof.

Had no idea what Hist of Sci was before I attended his lectures. His syllabus didn't help either, but I think my interest piqued as the weeks went by. Even though his class was recorded, I still attended them which I recommend. You also need to write notes as he speaks, because every little thing he says are on the exams. He's funny,smart & quirky.

This class is so terrible, that I am sitting on my laptop, on RateMyProfessor. He can't teach, I don't know what he's talking about. But wow, he's so good to look at. Very very handsome. Probably the only reason I show up to class. Seriously.

Although it was the hardest class for me, Topper is one of my favourite profs! He truly enjoys what he teaches and wants everyone to get excited about it. I am not into science at all, but by the end of it I had a fav. scientist. He is funny in his own corky way. Can use it as a humanity or a science req. I really enjoyed his lectures, take notes!

In all of my years at University, Topper was by far the worst professor I have taken a class with. Do not take this class! Lectures are useless because he will just ask you about something he did not teach on the exams. Grading scheme is 10% higher than other classes.

Not helpful at all, does not answer questions but instead bypasses them and moves on to something else. Scheduled tests outside of regular classes(on SATURDAYS). Class is supposed to be History of Science, virtually no history has been discussed whatsoever and he has not moved on in 3 months from the same topic.

Topper was clearly knowledgeable about the subject, but sometimes the concepts were not very clear. I`m an English major, so that may be why, too. His enthusiasm was entertaining, but there was no class participation required (which I like). A bit tough on people who asked questions in class. Can drop your lowest test mark, which is nice.

Very Boring, lots of assignments. I went into this class expecting that it would be interesting, but I ended up dropping out because he was boring. Not approachable at all. Doesn't like to be challenged. (thinks he is always right)VERY VERY DRY lectures. I slept most of the time.No involvement of the class at all.He just lectures.

Terrible. Boring material, all over the place, not engaging whatsoever and not helpful if you are struggling, which everyone was. The tests are HARD, but you get to drop your lowest mark. That was the only good thing about this class. Take astronomy instead.

Very hard to understand. Mumbles alot! His Videos are often better then the actual class because you can re wind and try to figure out where the revelance is for half of his stories. Very Smart man just needs to become more clear and mumble less.

a very intelligent man! Very enthousiastic about the course material (history of science). Lots of concepts don't make any sense, just take them as facts... don't try to understand too much. Hard grading scheme... expect this course to lower your gpa... def not a grade booster. but, overall, an interesting course.

WOW tough for science & arts students alike. Can watch lectures online so don't need to attend all of them. WATCH OUT FOR TESTS - TONS OF TRICK QUESTIONS. Really engaging & funny lectures, but goes through material very quickly so pay attention. Very receptive to talking outside class but when you go see him he's not helpful. Nice guy, though.

hardest uni class i've ever taken, listened to him in class and had to rewatch the video taped class while pausing him to get every last detail of his 10 page long exams that cover EVERYTHING. hard tests.

Topper has great presentations, he's interesting, and funny but he's a tough marker I found. I did bad on my papers, and bad on both of my exams, and I usually get A-. My GPA was 3.67.

Easy tests: one-word answers with only one essay questions and you get a zillion choices. I found his lectures engaging, although it's zero class participation, so if you like talking, bad choice of class. Feels like listening to one big story which I found made studying easier. Really tough to talk to if you need help though.

He talks and talks and talks and you learn practically nothing. Nobody needs to repeat themselves that much, and if they do, they shouldn't mumble through the whole lecture! I dropped this class, he was killing me with boredom. I WAS interested in History of Science until I met Topper.

NEVER TAKE HIS OF SCI WITH TOPPER! by far one of the worst classes i'ver ever taken. he rambles on and on w/o engaging the class, his tests suck (ya like 213 marks of one mark answers and an essay)The only good thin about the class was i made good friends who also hated it. save urself a heck of a lot of grief and avoid Topper at all costs!!no joke
